As you may have guessed, I have a welsh C x Arab and i don't know whether to plait him, or to pull his tail or what!

Planning on doing dressage, which will obviously call for a plaited mane... but what about the tail?

I also want to do some some workers and perhaps a bit of showing but I wouldn't know what to do with his long luscious locks! (I won't be entering many welsh-based classes, as his dam was unregistered. However his sire was a registered Arab)

Thank you ^^ xx

Technically he should be pulled and plaited. However, I have a similar dilemma as my babypony is similar breeding to yours, and I've decided to grow it all out and see how it goes. He looked a tit with a pulled mane as it's just all so thick, and he quite suits a mane. Stuff convention ;)

I had a similar question too as I have a andalusian x welsh. he probably would look quite gorgeous pulled and plaited, but I love his long maned spanish look. Most dressage people leave tails natural anyway from what i have seen, so you can always try a running plait in the main and a neat and tidy but natural tail?

I would running plait for workers and dressage :) and see how you get on when you feel like a change pull it ;) ... I may have done just this! :D

I've showed with a running plait before & plaited tail and won the championship so give it a go.

We have a welsh x TB that we didn't plait for dressage normally! And when we did it was just the mane as none of us are good at tail plaiting :)

We have an anglo arab x shire (think) on loan now and recently did hunters. Luckily, he has a hogged mane so that was simple! And for tail it was pulled - however, there was a mix of horses in the class and all those that had manes had them plaited as far as I remember.

Ours also has hairy legs - not full on feathers, just round the back. We had this clipped off and he looked very handsome!
