Hi

Sorry, I may have posted this a while ago, but can't find it on the search....

Please can I have some tips/advice on how to cut a Welsh Cob's tail to get that nice feather/to a point look, rather than just straight across/banged? Beano's is now really long, so I am going to attack it with some scissors but would like it to look "welshy"! It grows naturally to a nice shape, but it will lose this if I go at it with scissors in my usual way....!

Also while on the subject, I am going to chop Toff's tonight, for a normal tail is it correct to be about hock height when it's carried? Got a show tomorrow...Thanks!

Thanks

Thinning scissors, but only 2 inches or so from the bottom.

Use them as you would ordinary scissors and then stroke them, still with the hair in the blades, down the hair.

Or

Have your scissors verticle with the tail hair and snip the hairs upwards for that tousled natural look

Do a few snips at a time and keep standing well back to make sure it stays even and you don't take too much off. Regular washing-conditioning-hairspray-bandage routines are best to shape the top of the tail as well without having to pull.

Luckily it was dry once arrived! Did 2 clear rounds to warm up, iron out any problems, she was fine, flying round, entered class, got to number 4, which was a water tray, and she didn't see it until last second, skidded to halt, then scared herself, then wouldn't go anywhere near it!

Retired/eliminated, went to do clear round again and flew round clear. Going to make a water tray and practice....!! Good luck tomorrow
