welsh D showing/bitting (colt) and a shirt question

Hoping to get my welsh D out next year to some inhand classes, i would however prefer him to be bitted as he can be a handful and quite strong. He is normally a well behaved little chap but he has a feisty streak in him and since it will be his first time out i want to be prepared!
So if i do bit him would he need any different kind of bit than an ordinary snaffle?? he will be gelded.

Also on another note can someone recommend a cheapy yellow/corn showing shirt, needs a proper colar for a tie and long sleeves, can't seem to find any online!!

Not sure about the bitting question, I suspect if he's been gelded by then the really correct attire will be a white webbing halter for Welshies, but another more knowledgeable person will advise on that.

If you can't find a shirt and only want a cheapie, buy a white one from Asda and stick it in the wash with a brand new yellow duster - it will dye the shirt brilliantly. :)
 
Welsh D colt/stallion/gelding are correctly shown in a bridle. Only mares/fillies shown in a white halter and obviously foals. An ordinary jointed or plain snaffle will go correctly on bridle. With youngsters I sometimes put a latex bandage on a plain bar. If he is gelded by then please dont use a stallion bit.
 
You would be surprised at the amount of people that put these bits on even mares!!! Its one of my very pet hates. Its just WRONG!!
Have lots of fun though and get in training to RUN!!! Practice practice practice with your boy and train him not to break into canter.:)
 
We have been doing a bit of leading/inhand work in the field, he's a good boy but sometimes he doesn't quite understand so he goes from very s l o w to OH lets GOOOOOOOOO!!! and even throws in a buck at times for good measure :rolleyes: he's got the welsh streak in him alright :D

Hoping he does quite well as he is nicely bred, put together and flashy, he is very dark brown with white blaze and 4 white stockings!! :)
