Do you have any photos? I have a welsh D by Horeb Euros so would just be interested to see

As for turnout Id keep things plain. A nice plain leather bridle for inhand always looks smart. For ridden again Id go for a plain leather saddle and bridle (no numnah) and a leather or plain black/brown girth depending on your tack. Leave her natural (but clean obviously) with a single plait just behind the ear to keep her mane out of the way of the bridle rather than cutting a bridle way.
For inhand I would wear pale trousers, shirt, tie, tweed jacket, hat, gloves, short boots and carry a showing cane. For ridden cream/canary jods, shirt, tie, tweed jacket, hat, gloves and again a showing cane. Its perfectly acceptable for adults on m and m's to wear short boots but I prefer my long boots as I think they look smarter.
Good luck

Oooo...Horeb Euros, cracking animal! Do you have any pictures of your D?

For the horse...pull and/or thin mane, to about 7/8 inches. trim tuffty bit form ears, can remove wiskers, but thats personal preference. Tail should be trimmed to sit half way between fetlocks and hocks, feathered to a point.

Tack...Plain brown bridle, flat browband and flat hunter noseband. Depending upon level of showing, straight cut brown showing saddle, no boots no martingale in flat classes.

You...Tweed jacket, cream shirt, tie, cream jodphurs, long boots, showing cane.

The best thing is to go and watch the professionals at some big shows, thats the best way to learn, also check out the showing society webpages, and Welsh Pony and Cob Society page, all full of helpful hints.

feel free to pm if you want more help

I would go to some County shows and pay close attention to horse & rider turnout in D classes.
For in hand she will need a white webbing or rope halter you will need trainers and the ability to run at approximately 50mph!!!

, discreet trimming is allowed, tails are relatively short and kind of thinned to a fine point at the bottom - not banged like a normal riding horse. If she is a little short of bone then she is more likely to succeed in ridden classes than in hand. Also you tend to find that barren mares do less well in hand than mares with a foal at foot. (though this isn't always the case)
Good Luck. I have a section C coming out under saddle this winter but I am doing it the lazy way and sending her to a producer!!!

white halter for in-hand. for you, trainers, trousers, shirt and tie, waistcoat and some relation to an olympic sprinter!

ridden - this is my Welsh Cob doing dressage last weekend but my outfit is the same for showing, he wears the same bridle, just a showing saddle and obviously no white saddlecloth plus a showing cane instead of the dressage whip

This is my D turned out for in-hand. He is a 2 year old gelding. Just replace his bridle with a white halter.
