Welsh D

Mines only a yearling and it's down to me to nip every thing in the bud now. I have to say he is a pleasure to own he has his moments but Sharp gets over them. He is already showing how bold and brave the Welsh d nature is. I can see him being abit like I don't want to do that attitude when I start riding him in the future but I have never had much experiences with Welsh ds and I don't know made me settle for one maybe the're large kind eyes and pony like feature. Even though they are a cob there are a whole different category on there own. I've seen some amazingly good jumper that have been Welsh and good dressage horse the are a great allrrounder with the right training!
 
My last Sec D was pretty insane. Spooked at anything and everything, bucked luck a good 'un and was really strong, but a poppet in the stable - expect for spooking wildly if you rugged him or something. Current Section D is amazing - totally unspooky and will go past anything given a little encouragement. His stable manners are very good and he is totally calm, even with horses galloping around in the field next to us if I am on him (that would have totally freaked my last one out). They certainly have character, but, like people, they are all different. I reckon mine is super intelligent!
 
Like most breeds, they can differ. I have known a very 'hot' mare who never calmed down even after having foals, I had a youngster on loan as a companion till he was old enought to be ridden and he was lovely and no trouble at all.

We also had for my daughter a 16hh Welsh D cross, he was a challenge, would tank off with my daughter when we first had him, but eventually did really well in PC and RC events and competitions. We never parted with him and even as an old gent he would do it 'his way' !
