I think there's too many indiscriminately bred ones about, unfortunately. Many of them are not true to type and it can be hard to find a good one nowadays. Lots with the extremely small dished head and subsequent bug eyes, not attractive!
There is quite a few , but like blackcob has said, its hard to find a good one, I think I can say I was extremely lucky when I found Tommy because I bought him at rock bottom price due to the man that I bought off not knowing what he had . Once I seen his papers I acted dumb and said that I would take him , The man obviously didnt know anything about what was good blood lines and what wasnt . Also Tommy had a great temperament , nothing bugged him at all .
Anyways I could talk about tommy all day
.....If you find one, post a pic of it on here and Im sure myself included would be happy to cc it for you
Tommy has been placed in every single show , we have started county level shows this year and again hes been placed , Heres a pic that you could possibly compare to .... I agree with Blackcob about too dishy a head and a great description on the eyes LOL ! , straight limbs, good set head etc , also have a look on the welsh and cob society that will give you a description on what to look out for .
Anyways a pic of tommy who is reg section A with revel / waxwing bloodlines .....
i like your blackhill pony, very nice they breed some lovely stock.
you can see your on website
what do you class as extremely small dished head and subsequent bug eyes?
this?
quoted from the breed description on welsh pony cob society
The head of the Mountain Pony should be small, with neat pointed ears, big bold eyes and a wide forehead. The jaw should be clean cut, tapering to a small muzzle; the silhouette may be concave or 'dished' but never convex or too straight
