Is anyone here a breeder of section B's? or shows them?

I'm just after a little bit of info, as we're thinking of buying either a sec B or a NF next year. I know what NF lines I like, but havent a clue about sec. B's. I want something more 'stockily bred, old fasioned lines (not a nimbly show pony), so has anyone any pics of good examples? And any recommendations of breeders in the midlands, websites, books etc?

Thanks

A tad feisty you mean!!!!

My Sec B is a poppet. But she is a nimby pimby show pony type despite looking hairy in my sig!! By Cotterel Artiste.

The Eyarth sec Bs seem a bit chunkier. If I was you I would get the Welsh Pony society year book as it has all the studs in there.

Oh! I like!!! Very Very nice, and my God, it can jump!

My only experiences of sec B's have been nimbly show ponies and although I'd like it registered so we can do shows I'd prefer something which did a bit of everything.

He's a little stunner, but would be wasted with us. I think he'd be a showring pony, and we want something to perhaps do one show a year and pony club rallies the rest of the year.
I can also envisage him being just as hard to keep slim as the shetland

FMN: 12.2hh NF's are like bloomin gold dust! I would choose a NF over anything, it's just finding one!

I wouldnt bother with a 12.2 NF personally. Lets be honest if its a 12.2 NF its going to be a poor quality NF. If I was going to buy a NF I would only buy a stud bred one which would make 14.2 as a gelding and at least 13.2 as a mare. The forest bred ones are just to iffy in terms of temperament and quality IMO.

Our Section B is from the Cwrtycadno stud - they breed them with a bit more substance than many and I really like that. He is smashing - fantastic temperament, really great to handle, fantastic hacker and great jumping ability. He is, however, as others have mentioned pretty sharp and can be a little bit quirky. He is best with plenty of work - no good as weekend pony. We love him though - he is such a character.

Agree with the mini TB comment - there's another on our yard who is lighter weight than ours (he's a Rotherwood) and he looks just like a mini racehorse and both of them can act like one!

They breed sec Bs at my yard, but they tend to be the finer type, although very placid in temperament generally. We're in the south though, I know she is selling stock at the moment. She has the most fantastic little chestnut mare, quiet and gentle as a lamb, I helped back her. Not sure if she's decided to keep her now though!
