Welsh Section D Conformation - Showing

I'm just wondering opinions on my Section D gelding. Some people tell me he will do well at showing and has done ok locally so far, but I don't know much about it. Do people think he is worth getting someone to show him? :)

He looks smart enough to move up a level from local shows, with a few tweaks to show him off better, he seems to move and go well enough, a saddle set back to show off what looks like a decent shoulder and length of rein, a tidy up of the mane and tail could make a big difference to the overall impression.
 
Some nice breeding in there, he has quite a few names in there that are very good horses and he has some simular breeding to my lad.

He would need a tidy up and about 6 inches off the tail. But he has a good shoulder and does look true to type, my lad competes at the breed shows and county level and does well but he has not got a big welsh trot but he does move well and straight. You will find that a big flasher mover with ots of weight will generally get the judges eye.
Your lad looks a nice sort but why not have a go and ask for feedback from the judges (most are very helpful)
Most of all enjoy your horse :O)

Thank you! :) I'm not very keen on showing but I am interested in giving it a go if he'll be any good at it. Is a good shoulder a big part of it?
 
He is a lovely looking pony! He does look a bit long in the back. Nice shoulder but tail onset is a bit to high for breed.
I would change his turnout a bit, tail and main just a bit neater looking I would say.
But give it a go and yes have a word with the judge. They normally are very helpfull!! Good luck

Haha yeah i thought that when i did it!

Thanks everyone I know he's very messy at the min, we just took him out for some experiences really. :)
 
I used to show my welsh D and really enjoyed it, he did well at local level, never a 1st placed pony but also never left the ring without a ribbon (normally around 4th) Its like anything showing, some judges will like one type, others will like a different stamp for a welsh.
