Went to see 2 horses yeaterday, same price, same size but absolute chalk and cheese. Both rode nicely!
No 1 was 6 yo TB x warmblood, coloured, been out of work for a while, very rude, rubbed wispy tail so poss issues flies/sweet itch, head shy so needed two people to tack up, supsect may have issues around being tied up also. Not quite sure about the story surrounding him, it seemed to change and current owner is selling him after only purchasing him in March/April. Gave daughter a lovely ride though, lovely paces and popped a few small jumps very naturally. No issue hacking either. Very much a bigger version of her current 14.1 both to look at and ride.
No 2 was a 5yo 15.2 grey that was listed over there >>> on Monday. What pic didnt show is that she is a very chunky cob! Lovely manners, did a nice trial hack past traffic, through wood, cantering out on some set-aside, then moved to the arena, lovely on the flat and again very natural over a jump. Suprising forward going and balanced for her size and age with lovely straight paces.
To decide should be a completre no brainer, particularly as we had issue with my daughter last horse and that this one will eventualy be a mother daughter share, but it still took us ages to decide on............................
Number 2, we have never had a cob and it will be a complete change (cob classes etc). I am going to try to get her vetted ASAP, but want to try and get a second visit so I can have a ride too, I do trust my daughters judgment but just want to be absolutely sure.
Wish me luck as this is such a big decision. We were not even going to buy another horse
