Sounded just what i wanted and it turned out to be exactly the opposite of what i wanted!!! That'll teach me to get my hopes up, just to add to that having a really bad day, work is manic!!! Anybody else find horse hunting a bit disheartning (sp???)?! (Note this is the first one i've seen - god help me!)

I spent ages looking for the next pony for my teenage son. Went miles and saw the most outrageously unsuitable animals imaginable.

In the end I advertised, asking for full details/pics etc in H&H with a box number.

Had a great time with mates sifting through to a short list and found the most perfect boy ever on the 1st visit.
Id recommend it.....

Yep i too am on the hunt and i've been let down by travelling to see 1 and it already being sold-they could of told me before i set off! Am now searching for a loan horse,so if anyone knows of anything in the Oxfordshire/bucks area....

Yes sorry Gina had to agree the horse moved like a block of wood, and what were those bald patches? Shame as the pictures looked so nice!

Don’t worry though dear, we know where your perfect horse is, don’t we?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????? Let’s just go at the weekend, you know where I mean! We will find the money!

Chin up dear, your getting on Bodey tonight!

Lol yes, but i worry i will start drooling over the horses completly out of my budget and you will come home with a few more coloureds!!!

Well I will do you a deal, you keep me away from the coloureds and I keep you away from the reallyyyyyyy expensive ones! We will keep it real!

It’s worth going just to cheer you up and so you can compare what we saw yesterday to quality neddies!

It’s up to you though! You know there is always ways round these things (we can talk to Mum!).

Poor you - know the feeling, however don't be disheartened, horse number 9 turned out to be the right one for us. I set a strict budget and distance limit, several times I wavered but got there in the end - see my indulgent post a few down from yours entitled 'My new horse' - good luck

oh you por thign i hate horse hunting! Finally found my lovely new boy but not until seeing the most god awful horses and even owning one of the loopier ones for 6 months!

Just keep at it, the right one will come along eventually, I was about to give up until and Im SO SO glad I didnt now!

Hi
We bought one yesterday from a chap in congleton. He had about 14 for sale and the one we bought was fab - well bred and well behaved. Having him vetted on Friday but I don't think there will be any problems as he is only 4.
Good luck with your search

Don't get too disheartened. When I decided to look for a horse last time I was prepared to travel miles. The first horse I went to look at was described beautifully & I couldn't wait to see it. When I got there I walked past it! Nothing like the description.....well they got the colour right. There was no where to try it out, she was anti vetting, told us others were coming to see her so we should make our minds up quickly etc. Did alarm bells start ringing......Bl***y right they rang. We walked away!

Second horse was at a lovely yard, lovely people, no pressure, try him out, full history, cup of coffee & a long chat. Nice negociation, nice reduction in price.......best deal I ever made. Love him to bits & he'll be with us to the end of his days. Still in contact with seller. He was 40 miles away & advertised in Horse & Hound.

They are out there, you will find the right one, it just takes some people longer than others. Don't give up!

I'm disheartened too. I found a lovely horse ion Sunday, really liked her, but she just wasn't perfect and yet althought I decided against her I still keep thinking about her.

As for other horses, I don't seem to be able to move quick enough as I can't get time off work to go and look at them, and by the weekend they've gone!

Grrrr. All i want is a nice, 15.3-16.2 LW/LMW TBx that's not a nutter but will do riding club team level competing. Boohooohooo I'm never going to find one.

Good luck to everyone else who's looking. It's depressing (and to think I've spent the last 3 years being so excited about searching for a horse!).

Basically looking for something 16.1hh plus but 16.3hh would be ideal. between the age of 3 and 6. preferably not done a lot and unspoilt. warmblood, ID x or similar build - not too skinny but not too chunky. Nice temperment and good paces are a must as a want to do affliated dressage. Would consider unbacked as a last resort if had a super temperment.

Basically i'm looking for a 3/4 year old version of my current horse Gem!!!
