just for Paddys 2nd vaccination.
When she gave him it, she said in two weeks he can go out, me and mum are both sure it's less then that. With our other dogs we remember it being 7-10 days after 2nd vaccine :s

Also, she asked if I was going to castrate him, which I definitely am. She said 6 months is the best time to do that. I strongly disagree! At 6 months, the dog is still a puppy and developing, castrating that early leads to the dog not fully developing.
He'll be done at about 1 years old.

Just want to know your opinions on these two things

I can't remember about the vaccs, sorry.

I had both of mine (boy and girl) done at 6 months. There were a number of reasons for us deciding on 6 months
1) Vet recommended it
2) We had 1 of each so didn't want any "accidents"
3) Charlie started getting rather frisky shall we say with people and his sister! *ewww* he didn't understand that your not allowed to do things like that with your sister!
4)I've heard of people planning to get their bitches done but their cycle interferes so we had her done before she had one/or one that we knew about anyway
Neither have suffered ill effects from it. I've heard the rumour that it can stunt the dogs growth, if this is true then I struggle to imagine how much bigger Charlie would be as he's already the biggest collie/spaniel I've ever seen!

I know this has been debated a few times on here and its a fairly mixed response so I would say just go with whatever age you feel is best for your dog. You never know he may start h*mping things at 5 months and you'll change your mind about having him done at 6 months. I'm sure you'll decide on what you thinks right for him, all dogs are different

It is usally about 7 days after 2nd vax maybe your vet just got a bit mixed up unless they go by 2 weeks.
Also I have no issues neutering at 6 months as long as the dog is not a large/giant breed, I personally dont think menatl development has anthing to do with the age the dog is neutered maybe this is because I have never seen any sign of this in the many dogs I have or have dealt with after neutering, it can effect growth in larger dog hence why I would maybe wait a year for a larger dog, your boy looks to be going to make medium size, I would have no issues if his plumbs where big enough taking them away at 6 months

Also as already suggested some dogs become problematic at a young age in regard to friskiness and need to be done that bit earlier.
I have a 17 year old bitch sitting b4 me, she was done at 6 months, I also have a 14 year old deerhound he was done early too actually as it was donkeys years ago

It's your personal choice I suppose

What vaccination did they use? I believe Canigen Vaccinations do recommend 2 weeks after the second jab for full immunity...hence why alot of vets prefer to use Duramune.

I will be having Harvey castrated around 6 months old.
