I'm half looking as I would like to own in the near future unless Paddy's owner decides to sell him (my loan horse). There isn't much out there imo - but I'm picky not wanting any cobs or TB's

I just would like a nice MW irish type or even a nice arab but for a budget of 3k this isn't happening!! May have to save until next summer. I feel though if anything horses have got more expensive or possibly its due to the fact people aren't selling much over the summer. Good luck in your search!

I've lost enthusiasm with looking for a new horse, is completely boring me! Does anybody know of any nice level headed but green youngsters with sparkle?

Or have they all disappeared, i'm not asking a lot. And don't have a particularly small budget. Bored :[ x

I'm not the best at buying horses, I tend to 'make do' with what I see first xD One day that method will fail on me, I'm certain. Oh well
Can't complain about the one I have right now - went to try him with my arm in plaster because my previous horse decked me on the road a few weeks before o.o (broke my funny bone - it wasn't that funny tbh :p) Been as good as gold so far! *fingers crossed*

Hope you find something suitable soon

I'm viewing when I can find anything to go view...I'm quite picky though so have only viewed 2 so far since March. One was lovely but still needed a bit more schooling and I don't want another project and the other was again lovely but I didn't feel 'wow'..he was also a bit too strong and I've got an opinionated mare already! I e-mailed a dealer last night (was too late to ring) but unfortunately both horses had been sold this weekend

Hi Kate and other friends,

Been there, know how it feels.

But, in our current economic climate, we keep hearing of horses being sent to rescue centres, who are now bursting at the seams. So how come there isn't a deluge of horses on the market, with a subsequent drop in prices? Doesn't make sense somehow, any more than the price of hay seems to have remained the same for years + years.

Maybe the horsey world is somehow different to the rest?

Anyway, Kate and other friends,

Sometimes the harder we look, the more difficult it is to find what we're looking for. When i've been looking for a horse, they're just not about. But when i've got enough nice friends to ride, lo and behold, what happens? Another one comes along.

My best ones have found me, by chance, while my biggest problem one was one that i'd looked for, far and wide.

I think Sol suggests that intuition is our best guide. And maybe it's intuition that lets us down when we look too hard, as we're being so rational?

I believe that the 'best way of buying a horse' is to be in close touch with everyone in the local horsey community.

Good luck, + never dismiss a chestnut mare!! BS x

I had many disappointments last time I was horse shopping. It took me a long, long time, and many times I felt let down or like giving up. HOWEVER, I now have my dream horse
smile.gif
and as my mother kept saying to me when I was shopping "there's one out there with your name on it!", and I found her in the end. Keep your hopes up

I am really surprised at this. I have a cracking horse advertised but no one wants a mare!!She is only 9. I have had no inquiries at all. I have put this down to the market. Have even thought of withdrawing her and putting her in foal. Never known it this bad

to me it still seems expensive - i have 3k ready and waiting, not alot i know, i am after something safe to hack and can pop a 2ft jump. Dont care about how old or what it looks like or its sex! Havent found many to actually see yet, maybe everyone has this sort of budget tho so the good ones go quickly.

theres still alot out there at 5.5k which is what they were 2 years ago.If the one i like fails its vetting i am going to wait til winter and buy then when its cheaper.
