Ive been looking for a new horse now for some time after i lost my filly earlier this year she had serious liver disease, the coliced but didnt recover from surgery and my older horse has been out of action now from hock injury. Im now on the seconded failed vetting after seeing so many horses, with so many confirmation faults. both vettings had issues with bloods, I have travelled round the country, including, Ireland, Wales and cornwall. Were do i find a 2 -4 year old with a min 1/2 Irish, Min of 16.2 to make a middleweight show hunter.
My friend is also in same position she has had a few failed vettings looking for a riding club horse, we got to one horse that was dopped and another 2 come out of there stables lame, really struggling to trust people now.
were are all the good horses???????

Sorry not much point to post, but any ideas on were look now.

What is the price range you are looking in? It could be that if you upped your range you may find what you are looking for.

This could be me! I have been looking for over 6 months now (originally was looking for something for me and my novice other half) then because I struggled finding something for both of us I changed my search for my criteria - well mannered, no vices middleweight 16.2 ish for RC stuff and also hopefully good enough to get back into showing, don’t mind green, aged between 4 - 8 but want a good temperament.

Well I have had one doped (passed the physical vetting!!) and three failed vettings - failed on flexion tests. I know a horse will always come up lame after flexion but the length on time they took to come sound again was quite considerable so in all cases I was advised that they were not suitable for what I wanted to do. I have so far spent over a £1,000 on my search with vettings, travel, overnight stays etc and am still no nearer to finding something I like. I would at a push go to £5k if I found something I really liked, but have to say I am not desperate so will wait it out or might even look for a loan with view to buy.

It took me six months to find my second horse after going to see a IDxTB that turned out to be a shire (including white faced roman nose and feathers to knee), a six year old that was three, a riding club allrounder that had just finished racing 3 month before, a very obviously lame horse that didnt even reseamble the one in the picture, several dealers trying to masquerade as devastated to sell owners and one obviously doped horse, but I got there in the end and so will you. The "one" is out there somewhere!

Awe hang in there. It can be a nightmare. So draining. But time and a bit of luck will get you there. I got conned earlier this year. Sorted it luckily then found my current babe. Bought him lame and alls turned out well. It was a calculated risk that paid off.
Frustrating I know but you will get there. It cant be rushed. Too many things can go wrong. It will happen when it happens. Get a very good vet though top rule.
Good luck
