For those of you from this area, have any of you taken your horse here, either to hack or to use the Witchcraigs arena (if that's the right name).

My horse has lost a shoe, and as I can only hack on roads and tracks at home, was wondering about taking her here. In which case, is it semi soft surface or quite hard? Also, I have a 4yo who is away for schooling but is very sharp. When she comes back I won't be up for hacking her quite yet, so need arenas to hire ( at reasonable price!) desperately! I found Witchcraig but hardly anywhere seems to do it.

Anyone in sort of West Calder area have a lovely arena sitting unused half the time they might like to "lend" me

I used to ride in Beecraig all the time when I was in ponies, knew it like the back of my hand! i imagine most of the brdielways will still be the same, most of the ground is relatively soft or forestry floor but the whole place is interspersed with road and gravel tracks you either have to cross or hack along. Not sure I'd go up with a horse with only 3 shoes, sorry!

as for schools to hire, I can't really think of any in the WC area at the moment other than Fieldings but that's neither close nor cheap (I would imagine)
