First off I'd like to say hello, so hello everyone

I'm returning to riding after having a long kid break and I want to know about horsey places in the West Midlands, especially near Stourbridge as we'll be moving there around easter.

I want to have a few lessons to get myself back into it and then I would like to get my own horse either loaning or buying. I've found lists of places in the area but that doesn't tell you how good they are. So any inside info would be great, like recommendations of good riding schools, livery yards, saddlery shops etc.

Also an idea of livery/hay etc. costs in the area would be good so I can prepare hubby

Would post on here but tend to waffle on quite a lot and dont want to bore everyone else to death! hehe

You wont be far from Jackie Roberts Saddlery which is a treasure trove

Plus Equimix Saddlery in Stourport

Prepare to spend

They both have notice boards for local stuff going on and horses for sale.

For lessons I can recommend either Hartlebury RS or Stourport RS though there may be some nearer to you?

There are lots of livery yards around, perhaps PM me the ones you have in mind and I can investigate

I can also recommend instructors, saddlers, dentists etc for when you get your own horse.

I pay £15 per week for stable and grazing on a DIY farm but no facilities, i.e no school etc. I pay £18 for large round hay bales or £2.50-£3.00 for normal small bales.

I'm a member of a local Bridle Club if you ever fancy coming along to any of our training sessions or competitions to say hi - they are usually held at the bigger livery yards/riding schools so you can have a nosey at the facilities too.

I'll try to pop into the saddleries when we're visiting on our house-hunting trips in the next few months. All the info is very useful, keep it coming.

The bridle club sounds interesting chumsmum, would definitely be interested in visiting. In fact an other riding clubs would be good to know about!

hey, i know its a while since anything was said on this post,
but if your still looking for somewhere to get a few lessons really close to stourbridge you could try Stourton Hill Stables, its primarily a childrens riding center, but does do private lessons with adults.
i learnt to ride there and loved it! quite a few years back now but i know its still a good place to learn
