West Sussex - Mid Sussex area- please be on your guard!

As you probably are aware -there have been quite a few thefts/suspicious sightings etc in the Sussex area recently esp in Mid Sussex.

We live in quite a secluded area and there have been sightings of suspicious men lurking about yards close by in the middle of the night sussing out what's there -

The Police are aware of this too.

Please think about upping security/ taking home anything of value as it seems this is happening rather too often!

These people are also taking diesel from lorries/tack- they should have their hands cut off in my opinion!

Just thought I'd mention it so that we can all be aware.

I sent away 3 Eastern European looking & speaking individuals (2 blokes + a woman) who called at our yard last week asking strange questions about manure. Oddest thing was, how did they even know there were horses in the location as we are well off the beaten track at the end of a no through road???? Told yard manager & we're all now extra vigilant....

Can I ask where in Mid Sussex you're referring to? We are on the Crawley / Horsham border.

Yes - we're not too far away from you then- in West Sussex- just a few miles from Haywards Heath/Handcross areas.

Yes we too are in a private lane no throgh road! -

It seems they know where everything is and what is going on! quite worrying really.

I think I know just how strange people are turning up/horses are being stolen from out of the way places. Quite simply, they can study any area they like in great detail easily by going onto Google Earth. If I zoom in to where my horse is kept, it is a bit of a struggle to see her as she looks like a shadow, but the resolution is so good I can distinguish between the 3 greys who were in the field with her at the time.
