I took Zoom to West Wycombe ride on Monday. The ground was not as bad as I thought and there were a nice selection of jumps. She was at her fizzy best :D I had forgotten about all the scary hills. Zoom proceeded to jog sideways and plunge her way down the steep bits which was pretty scary!!!

I did wuss out and walk down the last one since I value my life :D None of the jumps were scary so it was a lovely confidence run for us both and she jumped nicely. I will forgive her for being fizzy since her feed has been drastically upped to try and get her looking porky so she was bound to be full of herself.

Links to pics (very small I'm afraid)

CC welcome, although the pics are tiny. I might buy the last one?? What do you reckon??

Great pics :) did you ride with Ted? Can't find their pics, unless they're still loading them on... Yep go for it x

I cant see them so will have to have a look later :( not fair... they werent all on last night
but I saw your Barrel pic and liked that one :)

It was a fun day cant wait for sunday and Frensham :)

I think we must do the same circuit of sponsored rides, as I did the Halton one last year and every time I see your posts, it reminds me of the lovely day I had when I see your pic jumping the plane (I bottled it and jumped the little bit at the side).
I lost my nerve during the course of last year, so didn't go to West Wycombe, but am hoping to do the 'Waddesdon' in May. Are you going to that one?

Wow looks like you had a great time.
I really like the last pic too.
I havent done a fun ride before, im hoping to do some with my new horse this summer, they look like brilliant fun!
:-D

Ha Ha! This reminds me of a ride I took my OH on a few years ago at Springhill in Worcestershire, when he had not been riding long. Was planning to ride my youngster but he was lame, so I borrowed a friend's hunter, and OH was on a fabulous old horse that had been champion working cob at RIHS.

Thank goodness I did! My baby horse would have never coped with the sheer drops, steep flinty tracks and long hills. The hunter and the cob were amazing - when I jumped into a wood which turned out to be full of jumps, the cob obligingly followed and gave my OH a real taste of XC!

They're fab pixs, defo get the last one!

There aren't that many jumps, not at all like Halton, but still most enjoyable. It is a really nice ride with lovely scenery, even though it absolutely poured down last year!
It will be my first 'outing' with Harvey, so I still have alot of work to do. I have had him nearly 5 months and haven't actually cantered yet!

Sounds fun. I will get on the beg to my mate with transport :D Sounds like a good one to start off with your boy. Halton is nothing like any ride! :D Zoomy is going on loan in September (if I can find someone to take her lol) so I'm going to try and get out as much as possible this year.

2 of my friends did this on Monday as well. You may have seen them, as in the barrel photo, you are number 37 and they are numbers 41-44 - riding a 15.3 coloured and a 14.1 Fjord?

Definately get the last one!! It is cute. I liked Wycombe, perfect for my youngster as the jumps are small and not scary. It was her first time out since racing and she did jog most of the way wondering where the starting line was- we were all trying to walk most of the way but it didn't happen!

I had a brilliant lead over most of the jumps by either my friend's ex-BSJA horse or my smashing little pony but managed to miss 2 of the jumps with photographers grr... I want to buy one of my water crossing ones and am undecided about the ridiculous baby jump over the barrels- on one hand I think it's cute and shows that it's her first time and on the other it makes me laugh! What do you guys think?

This is me on the Halton ride last year, although Sol jumped the little bit by the end of the plane so big, I may as well have jumped the plane!
And the pic below is from 'The Waddesdon'

This gives you an idea of the jumps! Although there were some that were bigger.
If you decide to go, let me know so I can say hello!

I love the Barrel one :D That is so cute.....I love the way she had to keep an eye on it incase it moved!!!! I do like your water pics too.

CeeBee - your friends started just after us!!!! I remember because the fjord was standing in the starting queue behind me! They will probably remember us.....either because they may have noticed Zoom's missing eye :D Or because my friend was on a blue and white arab x who is very distinctive.

I will ask them when I see them later. I feel very nostalgic looking at my old photos. It's quite bizarre to see me jumping and remembering those rides last year, when now I give myself a pat on the back if I have the courage to go into trot! I do miss Sol, but we just didn't 'click'. Harvey is completely different - so quiet and slow! But he is exactly what I need and know he is my 'forever' horse. Just have to build up the nerve to try that canter.....

Larry is so big! That comes in handy when you are going through that river! I was soaked to my knickers! :D

Don't worry CeeBee, it takes time to build up courage. Two years ago I had only jumped a couple of times and was terrified. Zoom hadn't jumped either but now I am so much more confident and trust her 100%.

This time next year you'll be doing all the jumps :D

Gotta love zoomy. She's so lovely. Looking at those photos brought back so many memorys. I grew up in High Wycombe and used to work at the Grove equitation centre in lane end. The west wycombe ride was my first ever sponsourd ride and i did it every year for ages as it was on my home turf. I used to have the whole Dashwood Estate to hack round. :)
Looks like you had a fab time again. You keep making me so gelous :p :D :D

I also did West Wycombe. My pics below. Had a lovely time right up until my friend had a problem with my other horse .... Sam threw a wobbly, So we swapped and Sam promptly reared up full tilt and chucked me off. This was wrong side of river and my friend didn't want get back on him at all. So i ended up leading Sam thru the river and friend lead him back to lorry park. Apologies to anyone we held up.......
Result = mild concussion and little trip to A&E last night. Doctor tells me my hat saved me from fractured skull. Off work sick today with headache & feeling v.sick. (Bl00dy horses!).

Rusty and I are first two pics on this page. However they seem to have missed me doing the jump!

I took my arab for a little bit of canter training and we got round in 45 minutes! Going back for the Connemara group ride there in a few weeks time but trying to sort out with organiser if we can go round twice.

No jumping pics - that's not our thing!

Looks like you had a great time :)

Sorry I was chuckling at one of the titles you named the pictures, yada yada...then we get to 'wooden jump'

:D sorry

Fab photos! This has got me really looking forward to the fun ride I'm going to on Sunday. It's a beach fun ride which should be interesting as my pony has never been on a beach before!
