I went a few years back, typical fun ride, full of rude people who go pelting around with no consideration to others- sorry for the rant . It was the first one I ever did and completely put me off them tbh, it was a total free for all. One fool went pelting through a gate ended on the road with her doing the splits, terrible site. I'd say they would need to be fairly fit as it was a fast ride, certainly not suitable if you just want to plod along.

I have done it twice. First time as described above - quite fast and lots of jumping. Second time was much steadier and manly tracks (I preferred the speedier, jumping version).

You need a horse that will cross a large stream - plenty of 'leads' available but I think those who couldn't get across may have been stuck.

There's a very steep bank you go down to, my head was touching my horse backside I had to lean back that much.:D

As suggested its a fun ride you don't have to have a terribly fit horse as you can go at your own pace there is also a shorter route so if you feel your horse is struggling you can do that one as it branches off from the Main route.also the jumps are optional . I'm taking my daughter on the lead rein obviously doing the short route. As a west of yore subscriber I can thoroughly recommend it come and have a day out in our beautiful area ( not biased at all !) . Hope to see you there -

I did it on a not very fit older horse last year and we loved it. You can go at your own pace and there are optional jumps. You do have to cope with quite a wide variety of terrains though, there was a really fun part twisting and turning through a steep wooded hillside. Most people were very considerate but if your worried about people galloping off around you then set off at the latest possible time so there is no one left to come past you. If you set off right and the beginning and plan to walk/trot most of it then you will inevitabily get people coming past you. Enjoy!
