I'm considering selling western gear.

I've recently imported a saddle and a bit, seperately, but both from America and the import tax was a joke

So, I'm not thinking of saddles, but is there anything you struggle to get hold of in this country? Obviously postage would be a lot cheaper if bought within this country .

I'm currently looking for a shirt, for some shows this year, the only ones I can find are on ebay and in America, so I'm worried about any import tax.

So, I'm thinking of selling ladies shirts and possibly bits.

Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully recieved.

I'm off to BETA in February to see what I can find ;)

Rhinestone Clothing is based out of Sovereign Quarter Horses in the UK and sells show clothing (blouses/shirts, jeans, boots, hats, belts and accessories etc) online and via FB. There is also a 2nd hand show clothing business called Second Go Around https://www.facebook.com/pages/Second-Go-Around/142886165728175 which has quite a lot of nice stuff and if you have items to sell that's a good route.
Also look at Westernscene website free ads which is East Midlands based.
Some of the shops also have basic clothing - shirts, jeans, boots, hats - Pullman Western Store had a FB offer on Wrangler shirts earlier in the week, Rhinestone also has discount offers on FB.
There is a show clothing/tack/Western gear sale event at Oakridge Quarter Horses on 29 January as one of their Club days too.

But in terms of setting up a home business selling Western stuff, you'd need to do your research very carefully, it's quite a saturated market in the UK - there are a number of recently established internet businesses running either via Ebay or FB which I think pretty much have everything covered, from clothing through to Western/QH gear and tack items - and a mountain of people selling Professionals Choice/Bob Avila, Classic Equine etc. Whether it is good value is a subjective thing - but there's plenty of stock here now, and on basics like boots, cinches etc prices are getting more competitive for sure. Probably the only things I buy in from overseas are custom saddles and specialist tack (because there are specific makers I like) and the very occasional show blouse.
