Yes (waves). But not really seriously, we use western training methods on our polo ponies, makes them a lot sharper and more responsive. Although don't use the traditional western bits ours are all schooled in a sweet iron or copper inlay snaffle.
I ride a mixture and my OH when he rides will only ride western.
We have a huge sofa of a saddle for Cairo - and everyone who has tried it has loved it. Many OHs have had a go on it and one went on to get his own horse - complete with western.
Cairo soon picked up the basics which is all we needed as he only hacks and it is a very relaxing way of going. My stressed WB used to benefit from being warmed up using western aids - reining, weight and long reins with no contact as such on the mouth.

I have had him from a foal and he is 16 now, owner of his sire reckons we will be buried together! Sounds ok to me!!
