The ground was horrendous, anyone who thinks anything of their horses or is aiming for a 3 day wouldnt' have run.......

oli has to run or the horse is not qualified. at least it was flat at south of england but still pretty hard. sorry cant tell you all who was winning there but we finished really early and was too hot to hang about for a jolly!

put it this way after what it was like on friday we withdrew the 2 novice's for Sat and 2 intermediates today. Not risking them at this stage in the season.

I suppose it always takes a lot of rain for it to get really deep so not a lot of sun to dry out...

Really? Always had fab ground when I went to their spring event. Guess they weren't ready for it to have dried up so fast - like so many places.

come now tiger, when can anyone remember when weston (at either event ) ran in what amounts to a drought. even with the agravator think probably be just as well gallop up the motorway!!

Lots of time penalties in the SJ, some decent sj horses not performing to their usual standard, by the looks of things anyway

i suppose everyone makes their own judgement on what they think is good or not good.

After the comments in eventing HT guide that said the absolutely awful going at Hartpury was good i've realised that we all have very different interpretations!!

Lets hope Hambleden is ok this week!

thats what i'm hearing too.....hope so

What our trip to Hartpury and Weston also taught me is not to believe what one person says about the ground/a course, make the trip to see for yourself at least then you can make your own decision hey....!

that is the only way really. and to be fair to hartpury, i dint expect much its august and on clay but usually they water very well in adition to agravating but last year they were told by met office there would be significant rain friday eve and the clouds did appear.... and sailed past with out spilling a drop. we ran ours and it was fine.

Another one who heard the ground wasn't great hope there aren't to many sore horses tomorrow....
Only goss comes from u21 sections, alot of the early runners got to fast time penalties only to find they had wheeled the course wrong! Thgey did rectify the optimum time later on so the final result could have been different, Laura Collett had a 20 dressage but had a stop in the show jumping and time pens XC. thats about it i'm afraid!

i went today to groom...parked next to WFP and oli townend, wfp didnt run many xc i dont think - oli ran all, i thought ground wasnt too bad - its was agrovated but i thought theyd done quite well!has anyone been competing?going to hambledon next week, long way to go from here, entered 5 but 4 were balloted - so going with 1!!

God Paul tapner cant get it wrong can he winning another A section!
Fernhill sox ran well again in his 2nd advanced! D god that horse has potentail lol!

he got a horse off the lorry - which i now remember piggy getting on, a big bay, stood silently falling asleep whilst he massaged it!!so sweet...argh cant remember seeing you - there was a good bunch of you around!!did you see me?!haha this is so odd!

Thats true - there was quite a herd!

Not sure seen two girls sittin on the ramp - earlier this morn. But TBH didnt take too much notice!

Who were you grooming for?

tapner is great. and thats another one in the eye for certain local riders who have sneeringly asked in the past "what has he ever done?" apart from win a 3* unlike any of them i might say!

Its great to see people like Paul Tapner beating the old crowd, it will be even better if he can make it onto the teams!
