Anyone use them or recommend them?

How tough are they and do you know if they slip down easily?

My pony has only been down on the road once- but that was enough!

I don't really like the 'normal' knee boots- i find them and brushing boots together a bit too much, if that makes sense!

Oh, and any ideas on sizes? She is a 13.3hh cob, but not chunky.

Thanks for any replys

yup, had them 5 years still going, don't slip if done up properly even if doing lots of cantering, I like them.

We have had to replace one of the top straps (threaded a dog collar through the slats) but apart from that they are fine. don't think they have been down in them but anglo forgets where her feet are sometimes.

I think, but can check that we have cob size of both Frank (the welsh) and mums 15hh anglo, can measure the round the knee bit for you if that would help.

Should add, in comparison to leather ones really easy to do up in the middle of winter with cold hands and gloves!

When I say do up properly at the top, we tend to pull the first wrap round with the velcro on it tight. Then the nylon strap and clip a little looser than this bit. If we haven't got them quite right they have slipped.

If they slip (only if cantering) we have had the odd one slip down to the foot but it hasn't caused any injuries and normally the bottom strap breaks (sewn them back on a couple of times) But as I say once we have the fitting right they don't move.

oops just realised you mean the combo ones. I was talking about their normal knee ones!
have heard they are not that reliable if horse goes down in them as they can flick back on themselves exposing the knee.

am happy with brushing boot/knee boots together.

I use them and they don't budge...Local riding school uses them on all her riding school horses and ponies too.
This is Benji sporting his after an energetic hack through mud and puddles.. (pls ignore daughters strange expression..no idea what she was saying..probably 'stop photographing me..lol:

eta: Benj has large but could probably have got away with medium

I have them and they don't move or slip through mud, water, and general off road terrain. Wouldn't be without them.

I have them - the only time they move is if I haven't done them up tightly enough!

My 14.2 chunky haffy has full size but probably would get away with wearing cob/medium size - they're both about the same width but the FS is longer in length.

Thank you for your replies everyone!

I think i will give them a go! Its just i never see anyone using them and they look like such a good idea!

Ester- I wondered what you were talking about at first! I thought 'how on earth would a dog collar fit around them!'

The horse in the picture above is a 16hh TB type and is in a large. I would say they are on the big side for him (width wise) as his legs are quite skinny but don't move so am happy with them as they are
