I have a almost 26 year old welsh cob who’s semi retired
Iv noticed the past couple of weeks he’s weeing a lot more
He’s a very clean boy in the stable .. poos on the mats not on his bed so I manage to get away with taking wet out once a week and replace with a bale and he’s got a nice comfortable bed
However past few weeks the wet is having to come out more as it’s coming to the surface very quick
He’s on a mix of blue frog and dream shavings (depending what we can get) as he has copd
Eats pro bed and digs up pellet beds
Fed haylage ..again due to copd and water intake slightly increased but were not drinking buckets and buckets
He was tested for Cushings but that’s ruled out and his wee isn’t incredibly strong or like water .. was thinking to get a sample to use a urine dipstick on (work at a vets just not equine)
He’s carrying a little more weight than I’d like but iv decreased hard feed .. Haylage is ad-lib and always has some left over
Obviously I can’t see what he’s drinking in the field as it’s automatic water system but has anyone else’s horses become wetter? Or is this probably a vet job? He’s very happy in himself and isn’t straining while weeing just seems a lot
