Hi
new on here. I will be relocating to yorkshire soon and need to be within commuting distance of wetherby. So i need a house to rent and field for my horses, would like to rent somewhere rural with land but heard wetherby is expensive. So any advice or info on what areas to look at, i would like a field or grass livery, failing that diy livery on a small yard where i could rent close by and with decent hacking. Are there any websites that cover properties and grazing or livery in this area, riding clubs and are there any country estates or landowners that rent property and grazing. Any info much appreciated as i dont know the area at all

Hi, property wise I can't be that much help - wetherby does tend to be pretty pricey, but within commuting distance is quite far really as transport links are good. Places like Sherburn-in-Elmet and Monk Fryston are more reasonable cost wise - anywhere towards Selby. North of wetherby up the A1 is also a possibilty I think, steer clear of going near York or Harrogate if you want cheaper places. Locally there is the Harewood Estate and Bramham which I think both have properties to rent. Livery yard wise there are loads! Its really dependant on what are you get a house in :)

Riding clubs - the local ones are the Harewood Combined Training Group and Nidd Valley Riding Club. From experience both are friendly and active, HCTG has more stuff going on in the week when people who work can't get there though.

Stockeld Park Estate is about 1 mile from Wetherby and rents some properties.
There's also several livery yards around Sicklinghall and Kirkby Overblow and the hacking round Sicklinghall is lovely.
You could rent in Wetherby and it's only about 3 miles up the road.

If you want to rent a place with land Wetherby will definitely be pricey. I think the areas mentioned above would be best.

Hi thanks for your replies, i tried the estates but no smaller places available just big expensive ones. After looking on zoopla and various other sites and not finding anywhere that took pets i ended up having to turn the job down

What a shame. It can be tricky finding somewhere to rent with pets - I always thought that applied all over the UK! But in the Wtherby area I would have thought somewhere whcih allows pets is more likely.

Just seen that Linton Springs, just outside Wtherby and in nice hacking area, has two stables available.
