Someone came last night and took the mini tractor, trailer and 4 tins of sadolin (random!)

They left my bateson for some reason (thank god) but paranoid they will come back for it tonight. Everything was all locked up but doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent any more

I suppose I should count myself lucky they didn't take the horses

It's really maddening isn't it? Why can't people just leave things alone. And you are right it doesn't seem to matter how much you try to secure things - if they want them, they'll get them. Bad luck and I hope things settle down quickly.

Yes thank goodness the horses were ok. Maybe worth a simple cctv system. They are not so expensive these days, you might get a discount on insurance too.

Bastards, we were burgled and they took my Ifor Williams, it caused me so much stress. the best method is to concrete a metal post into the floor and chain the trailer to that as well as having a wheel clamp. Our hitch lock didn't deter them in the slightest, they just used a chain to hitch it up so it ran on the back wheels..

Try my rape alarm trick, it may frighten them off if they return, use tape to fix the alarm to the gate post out of sight. Replace the alarm wire with fishing line which is near invisible and attach the end to the pin on the alarm. Arrange it so if the gate is opened the pin is pulled out. They make an incredible screech in the dead of the early morning and the average tea leaf runs off..They don't hang around long enough to see where the noise comes from..
It leaves you feeling vulnerable for ages doesn't it?

Brilliant idea about the alarm, will try and fix something up. Problem is everything is being rebuilt at the moment, so hard to make things any more secure until its finished, when we will definatly fix something to the floor for chain it too, thats a very good idea.

It does make you feel very vunerable, that someone can just walk in and take what they please, when you have spent ages working your a**e off to buy it

I really feel for you, it's horrid to feel so vulnerable.

We've had two burglaries, both times on wet windy noisy nights. The first, we were away but son was here and we cussed him for not hearing them (but on second thoughts, probably a good thing he didn't!

) as it was only ten yards from his bedroom and they had to get through a noisy steel door!

They took all of the power tools for work so they had over a week twiddling thumbs. Luckily we were insured with Norwich Union who were brilliant, can't praise them enough, and they were only worried that they couldn't replace like for like but would they mind having all new Stihl machines as some of the makes weren't made any longer!

did they heck!

The police arrived at tea time and was more interested in son's racing bike, typical as only they can be eh?! New doors, padlocks, you name it, and then, six weeks later we were done again - and this time, WE didn't hear a thing and our bedroom overlooks the yard, did we feel mugs?

They tried the garage this time which has the squeakiest door you can find and took the quad and a strimmer from there, then had the nerve to unload the IW plant trailer which was loaded up with the rails/posts etc for the next day work, unhitch it, put quad on that and sail away! This time the police never even came out just gave us a number. Ever since then we have had the whole place alarmed and it's like Fort Knox but we still hate to leave it, or rather we hate to have to come back and find they've been again; it's very demoralising and that feeling seems to last for ages. The only consolation is they've only taken things and haven't touched any of the animals or come into the house itself. All of our dogs were useless too, they never made a murmur!

You would think you would hear them, but its amazing what you can sleep through I suppose. The old outbuilding they took them from has the creakiest door, really makes a noise when you open it, so cant believe we didn't hear anything. We have been very lucky, only been burgled once before, were they broke into the house when we were out, took a few random things, like the Guinness book of records

and my grans wedding ring

plus some wine!

I cant get my head round the mindset that allows someone to walk into someone else's property and just help themselves
