im thinking of starting working hunter with my boy next year but he has a scare on his back lump which also has a lump i was intrested to know if that would mark him down alot for having it???

Working hunter is the most forgiving of all the showing classes for scars etc, as they expect working hunters to have a few "war wounds". As long as it isnt anything too unsightly, shouldnt casue a massive problem, though you may loose a few marks... depends on judge and level competing at?

I'm sure you will be fine at local level, if you do a good show, and he looks the part otherwise, shouldnt cause a problem.

Yeah - he will be marked down a little depending on whether it looks as though it could cause problems in the future. You will need to do a major revamp in the clothing/tack department though!

It would probably only ever matter if you was equally as good as another person, and that other persons horse was flawless

You'll be fine at local level

Mine has a scar(ok it barely noticable) and used to have splints and still won!

You just need to be better than the rest, a good burst into gallop is very good and they bringing them back to a decent canter well.
