What a brave baby!

Merlin will be 2yo in May, so this summer will be spent getting him used to scary things!

So yesterday i decided i'd get him in whilst i clipped Blue

So shoved Merlin in a stable with some hay, retrieved Blue from field and got clippers ready.

Switched them on and looked at Merlin who was looking a little white eyed

but just watching, started clipping and after about 5-10mins of him just standing there watching he just started eating the hay

I was so pleased with him!

Want him to be used to scary clippers now so i won't have a problem (hopefully) in a couple of years when its his turn for a haircut

He's also pretty good with: lorries, cars, vans, tractors, jcbs, dumper, chainsaw and now clippers too so am quite happy with him at the moment!

Thats really good, i wish all people who had youngsters where like you, it saves problems when they are older.

I will admit that we're not so good on picking feet up buy hey one thing at a time!

He gets to watch more clipping this weekend and then again the week after too. But going by yesterday don't think he'll be bothered really

Bless him, sounds like your doing a good old there getting him used to stuff.

It helps his field is next to the road and is also next to the entrance to the yard and his hay is put near both so he can see comings and goings and general traffic.

Also his field is next to the arena so he can watch the others being ridden so hopefully he won't think it so scary when its his turn!

He is a sweetie though, he was REALLY people shy at the start (his mum is pretty wild) but now he's much better and was following me around the field yesterday!

My last youngster Rocky used to watch me lunge and when I finally got round to lunging him for the first time it was like he'd been doing it for years! Same when I started riding him too

Aw lets hope Merlin is like that too!!

Got a year and a bit to wait to find out though
