I had about 3 hours sleep, thanks to you lot :p Then had the day from hell at work (on the verge of quitting!)

Got a phonecall from my mam at about 3 saying Charlie dogs leg was 'hanging off' and he couldnt walk at all. I told mam to get him to the vet and she said she thought he would have to be PTS so she wanted me to go.

I know PTS sounds severe but Charlie dog is 15 this year, his sight has pretty much all gone, hearing is on its way out and he is generally stiff and slowing down. Putting him through any surgery would't be fair for him :(

I left work at 4 and picked OH up incase the worst happened and he had to drive the car home from the vets and we headed up to my mams.

When I got there my heart broke :( When he saw me he got up and tried to come over and see me and he just fell flat on his face :( He let me have a good look and feel of his leg without a grumble bless him.

Turns out he has a broken leg :o:eek: He didnt whinge once at the vets (except and the small furries in the waiting room!) and is now sporting a huge splint! We think he has done it when he has fallen over on the hard flooring (he is stiff when he gets up and does slip about) as well as aged bones. Vet seemed confidant that it would heal and not cause more problems (thank god - I was in tears through all of this!)

After a shakey attempt to get up he is now scooting about like normal (well... with his peg leg) He is using his leg and cheeky little expression didnt change all day.

I really thought I had lost him :(

Can I have lots of vibes for my poor old man?? This leg needs to heal... he is not allowed to go yet :(

What an awful day, it's horrible when you think you're on the verge of losing a pet. I'm glad he's been a trooper and plodding along still :-) Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight!

Oh poor Charlie, poor you I feel guilty now keeping you up. Thank goodness it was justn a broken leg, cant believe I just said that.

Huge Vibes for the old trooper and hope he has a speedy recovery.
