I have been riding for a fair few years and have always been a more nervy rider from day one. I have spent my riding years plodding round the manage, hacking on 'calm days' and popping ankle high jumps.
Until i purchased my own horse.... probably not ur typical first horse, a 7 year old black ish who had hunted and advertised as the perfect hack. I never looked or tried any other horses but oddly 'knew he was the one'.
Well, what a year we've had.... We have gone from plodding around the manage to hacking.
In April i went to my first ever show and got a clear round in 2ft class.
I've spent the summer building up confidence gradually.
Last week i found myself alone putting up jumps in our manage, popping them and increasing them..
very strange behaviour mmmmm....... until i was popping over 2ft 6 straights? mmmmmmm
So, i was invited to go cross country with an experiened friend today. Have felt sick all week, almost bottled out......
Arrived... still feeling like i wanted to bottle
... popped a small log.... popped a small table type jump... got braver tried some tyres...
In short... got braver and braver and found myself jumping a coffin, small steps, jumping out of water, sunken road among others.

where on earth has the nervous rider gone? Seriously pleased with my horse, what an absolute dude he is!!! There is hope out there for every nervous rider
I am even contemplating a little local one day event........ the nervous rider has left the room....................................
