Just got back from my lesson buzzing!

For the first time today Jan came into the school with me on his horse and we worked through a start to finish work in programme.

Loved the fact that he was able to demonstrate things rather than explaining it, the explanations of ok he is trotting and putting his head up ergo he is not listening to you so go back to walk and start your work in programme again try again and if he is not listening then repeat as often as it takes, if you spend 50 minutes going back to the work in and 10 minutes of him actually listening to you and doing it right then it is time well spent.

Lots of practice on disengage the hip and side pass which earned a thumbs up (in any other trainers language this means pretty near perfect lol)

We then spent 10 mins just standing talking with totally relaxed horses, my horse has finally learnt to stand still, each time he raised his head just gently playing with the reins until he brought his head down and occasionally bringing his head round to my boot and scratching his nose.

I was then left alone to just do my thing and Vardi was listening, and beautifully supple so I thought shall I try a canter?, now bear in mind this is the first ever time I have cantered on my horse or any horse since I managed to unceremoniously jump off a bolting loony and smash my self up.

It was fantastic he has a stunning canter stride, I made sure after 3 strides that I had brakes then after establishing that they were in working order off we went two circuits each way then 2 circuits incorporating turns and leg changes.

Twas much fun and I will now stop babbeling lol

Poor OH has just had 30 mins of me drivelling on :-)

Fantastic - really good to read such a lovely happy post. Confidence is a fragile thing and tiny steps can mean huge leaps forward.

Any chance of photos next time?
