Firstly, a belated but big thank you to DieselDog and Aran for all the advice about bandages in my last update
smile.gif
Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply at the time, by the time I saw it I didn't want to bump an old post... Be wasn't given one of the "sock like" bandages that you warned me about; my vet said they don't tend to use them if they can help it due to the scarring they cause. So she had veterinary ones applied once more after coming home, then standard stable ones, and now none

Today after being home and on boxrest for two weeks Beanie went back to the vet for more shockwave treatment on her back.
smile.gif
She is doing really well
smile.gif
Her legs look fantastic. Hardly any scabs or marks from the Op - the give away is really only the silly clip
tongue.gif
But she is SO SO well in herself

She loaded good as gold, and parked and unloaded next to Sharon Hunt's lorry at the other end!

She was a v good calm girl waiting in the stable and going in for the treatment,
smile.gif
but the vet gave her a sedative prior to the treatment just to make sure she wasn't too fidgety with discomfort whilst they did it. Minutes afterwards she was allowed home.

We walked a still doped up Be to the lorry park. My friend held her whilst I put travel boots on, I took a hold of her whilst he went to put the ramp down........ AND SHE WAS OFF!!

Dappy mare got spooked by a pony in the paddock going barmy and after three weeks of being stood in a stable, she had a LOT of energy in reserve
crazy.gif
crazy.gif
She only went and jumped the flipping loading bay and threw me full pelt into the wall

(Owchie

crazy.gif
I'm not kidding when I say the vet who'd sedated her minutes beforehand, and who then caught her and put her in the stable, did not even recognise her as the same horse until I limped around the corner
crazy.gif
and he was quite surprised to realise she was my one....
crazy.gif
I think I then received more veterinary treatment from all the nurses than Be did today, bless them, they were very kind and I was very embarrassed!
crazy.gif
crazy.gif
I was so so worried the silly girl would have done herself an injury, but as I waited (cringing) in the waiting room, icing my arm, drinking sugary tea, all the people in there reassured me that as Be had gone steaming past she CERTAINLY didn't look lame...
crazy.gif
which a veterinary check confirmed. Very very luckily she was totally fine.

After this point I had to admit that I am indeed a short *rsed lightweight as my big burly horsebox driving friend pointed out
mad.gif
tongue.gif
and allowed him (with a chifney

) to load her....

She of course was good as gold traveling home and unloading, and I'm *most* relieved to report she still tonight seemed no worse for wear for her "adventure"

I shall however be keeping the chifney to hand for her walking out work this week....

I am battered and bruised, but most pleased with her progress so far

Just to top my day off a little further, Popple also managed to be her naughtiest ever this afternoon!!
mad.gif
mad.gif
tongue.gif
We went to some tack shops after and paused on the way to walk Popple and her puppy pal on a footpath...... at which point Popple spotted a hare and beggered off
shocked.gif
mad.gif
which unfortunately, due to my flu, I couldn't whistle, so spent the best part of 45 minute RUNNING up and down a big hill trying to corner her
mad.gif
and I then spilt the iodine I'd bought for Be's feet on my jeans on the way home
tongue.gif
My friend who drove me for the day did very well in laughing at my expense. I almost think I should take back the lunch I bought him given the entertainment my animals and I seem to have provided for him...
tongue.gif

Hopefully this won't all happen again when we go back on the 13th
tongue.gif
Thank you all for your continuing good wishes,
smile.gif
hopefully I shall be able to continue with positive reports
smile.gif
and that 2009 shall see me and Be finally back in work

You gotta love 'em. Have a good stiff drink and an early night and know that tomorrow you will be even more stiff and sore than you are right now!!

You're right, on days like this, you have GOT to love them

I also think I shall take your advice about that drink

Glad she's doing ok - my stupid boy has also been on box rest for 2 weeks, and went for his 2nd shockwave today. I couldnt get travel boots on because they were the stuff of demons, we had to stop on the way to the surgery as he was creating merry hell in the lorry for reasons only known to himself, he crashed about every time we passed anything bigger than a van, he had to be unloaded with the rope wrapped round his nose practically stopping his breath because he was so full of himself, he lashed out at the nurse, panicked about having his fleece off and had to have extra sedative and kept snorting and spooking at the shockwave machine thing.

Then, once the treatment was finished, he couldn't drag himself up the ramp because it was just too much effort and I had to move his front feet. He did travel quietly due to the sedative though
smile.gif
.

Next treatment on 5th. God knows what he'll be like then (apart from bridled under his headcollar this time!!)

Gosh, what an eventful day. Naughty B, glad she is OK, I used to have kittens when my mare had a hissyfit after box rest and thought she would do herself some awful injury, but luckily didn't. Aren't they a worry?

When I used to have to take my mare to Newmarket during boxrest, she used to be on quite a few ACP, but still managed to be more trouble than the TBs that were quietly obediently being trotted up!!
