What Age To Freezemark?

Hi, i have a 22 month old who is already microchipped but i also want him freezemarked but not sure at what age to get him done?
My last horse was 4 when i got him done.
Also I'm a bit worried at my youngster has very thin skin and worried about it hurting him.
Last horse was hard as nails and just munched on his haynet while she did it but my youngster just has to look at a fly or a needle from a vet and and comes up in a large lump!!
I know it's not meant to hurt but honestly he's such a whimp when it comes to his fur/skin!!!

I had my colt done at about 12 months - Arab x and fairly wimpy. The operator took one look at me, gave the leadrope to someone else and told me to go get a cup of tea - ponio was just fine when I got back, and no reaction to the process.
