Did you start riding if you started as an adult?
I can't ride,I've had a few lessons/treks etc over the years but mostly at walk so more of a passenger than actually riding lol
One day I would like to get my own horse perhaps a mother/daughter share but I will want to lose a good few stone before I do.
Also a bit nervous of riding but did recently sit on a 14.3hh welsh cob and it felt great :) I'm only 5'4.
How did u find learning to ride as an adult?
Also any tips to lose weight would be great too :p as really want to do this one day and don't want to be too heavy

I lost 3 stone 6 years ago using the Rosemary Conley books/magazines.

I learnt to ride 4 years ago aged 45, 1 year of riding school lessons, once a week.

Bought my first horse 3 years ago, 14.3h, and having a great time :D

I'm in the same position as you OP, have had a few treks and goes on friends ponies in the past so while I know the basics - how to hold the reins, the different gaits, how to stop - I can't ride properly/control a horse properly.

I've got my first riding lesson next week and I can't wait! I'm also hoping that in a couple of years time I will be competent enough to get my own horse, if nothing else it is something to aim towards!

If you don't mind me asking, what weight are you? Are you over a riding school limit? Because if not book yourselves some lessons and use them to help you lose weight :)

Like you op I had only had a few treks until I started having lessons at the age of 41. Bought my first horse at 44, a 14.3 Welsh cob and have been enjoying all things horsey ever since!

Well done guys I would love some lessons ( tho I would be scared to death lol) but can't really afford them and at about 16st I'm too heavy :(
Funny about the 14.3's lol that I sat on one and u have that size horse too :)
Just bought my daughter her first pony so I'm quite content atm.
I'm 31 so I've got plenty of time to lose weight and learn, one day get a horse but need some inspiration and positive vibes :D

Loosing weight, get the jillian Micheals 30day shred dvd. great if you dont like working out, its only 25mins it really really works!! also combine that with a healthy diet you will not only increase your fittness and flexibility but the pounds will drop off

To help loose weight and be around horses and gain experience and knowledge offer to muck out general help at local riding school, rescue centre . You will pick up loads of tips etc which will help when you get your own.
