Please note - this not an advertisement!
Ok, so I've put my horse on horsemart for sale, the ad has had 500+ views and not one phone call!!! The only thing I can see wrong is that he's cheap, this is only because he's really grumpy in the stable and does need more time than I can give him! I've lost my confidence with him, again purely because I haven't got the time to work through his "issues" on the stable. He's started his reschooling and is doing really well and is also very good on the road. He just needs someone to be leader and I'm not! I really need him to sell as its not fair on either of us. If anyone can help by looking over my ad (sorry I can't post link) but search for ex racer dark bay 16.3 8 years old and in Derbyshire! Again this is not an advertisement just would appreciate any advice. Thanks all. X x

Is this the one?

http://www.horsemart.co.uk/ex_raceh...ths_16_3_hh_dark_bay_derbyshire/advert/201464

Initial reactions, on the plus side, nice photos, he looks well put together and it reads like a genuine and honest advert, and as you say he's cheap.

I wonder if the dreaded 'not a novice horse' is putting some off, as that can be a euphemism for so many things, from mild handling issues to them being a complete nutcase.

If you are able to add in more info., I'd always want to know about how they are to hack alone and in company, whether they are spooky hacking or in the school, how much they have done of schooling, jumping etc. you say he loves his jumping - maybe add what height he's doing and whether he's been out and about at all (I realise he's only just reschooling though). And how he is to clip, catch, load, shoe. And for lots of hits add a video as I always tend to look at those more!

And perhaps explain what you mean by grumpy - pulls ears and turns away may be ok, if he lunges at you and bites maybe leave that for a telephone explanation!!

Anyone who is able to bring on a horse like this should know that he won't have done loads of work.

But I also suspect you're facing the same difficulties as everyone else in such a difficult market I'm afraid and so close to Xmas. If you can get an experienced person to continue bringing him on, and do more stuff with him (focussing on what you think he will sell as) then you might find a buyer in the new year and at a better price if you can wait until then.

The other option is to send him to a selling livery if you can bear to part with him and can afford it. I did this for my horse as I wasn't able to ride him well and wouldn't show him off to his best. It cost me the same as livery would have cost, plus a 10% commission, but they were better able to bring him on and get a good price for me. Admittedly in a better market though.

Thank you. I'll update it and all of those things in, I was upset when I did it (the whole emotional I'm selling my pony thing) so I'll add all of those things in. I've not got him out and about, the plan was schooling him this year and getting him out next summer. Not novice ride can be the worst thing I can put I know, it's just the last thing he needs is an enthusiastic novice seeing a cheap horse coming to try him. I know that everyone is a novice at some point (I don't proclaim to be amazing either) it's just he needs someone who is going to understand the work he needs. X x
