Keep it clean people!
I rode for about nine years in a riding school before buying my first horse, who I had for 10 years. She was a sweetie, perfect manners on the ground and easy going in the saddle. Her only faults were that she was terribly nappy on hacks when hacking alone, a bit strong in company and had to be got after in the school if not jumping. If she was jumping she was VERY enthusiastic - I really just hung on and closed my eyes! She also had a lovely habit of trying to yank me from the saddle when she decided she had enough! But never, ever did a nasty buck or reared. Her spooks involved skittering off at trot and then panting and blowing while doing a little dance while I reassured her she wasn't a prat! She only had one speed and was pretty much unflappable. She taught my daughters to ride when they were tiny, she was so good on the leading rein.
So - what kind of rider am I? I have never competed so can I really be experienced? I have butterflies when I first get on a new horse but I settle after a few minutes. My riding instructor says my position is fine but I need to remember to lift my hands. I would like to get back into jumping and do local shows, low key fun stuff, so what kind of a horse would you see me with? Personally, I love cobs, something between 14 and 15hh. But what kind of temperment and ability do you think I could handle?
Tough question I know, but my opinions of myself see saw when looking at ads
. Any help would be appreciated!
