Just thought I would share this with you all as its really upset me.

We have just got a new lady on our yard- the poor thing - she is temporarily keeping her horse here......

Reason being - she had recently bought some land just down the road from our stables - she had spent alot of time sorting it out and making it nice for her new horses ..... just had the stable block erected about a week ago .... Looked really nice and posh ... brought her horse over to the yard ...... and a few nights ago some evil beasts have pulled into the yard..... taken the horse out of its box and turned it out (even locking the paddock gate behind ....... and then STOLE the new stable block (wooden). They took the whole thing in the middle of the night!! she turned up the next day totally shocked!! isnt that awful!! I am sad for her!!

Agghhh - how horrid.

One reason not to keep a horse on an unattended yard though. And thank god they didn't damage the horse!

Terribly upsetting.

Good grief!

The mind boggles! At least the horse is unharmed, you can replace the stable but not your friend, where did this happen?

I know !!! The yard isnt in the middle of nowhere but no houses close enough to hear anything - it was a daft place for a yard but still arent people awful?

The horse is 100% calm - I can just imagine him grazing away while they take is bedroom down!!

It happend in West Yorkshire - in the Bingley area.

Yes the horse is safe and unharmed from his ordeal bless him.

No tack or items nicked from what I know.

Just think some scratters will have been planning it for days!!

That's almost worse isn't it - the fact that people just shut their curtains and ignore what's going on.

I can't believe people can do such things, its absolutely disgusting!! But ............ at least it wasn't her horse that got stolen, so it could have been worse - there is always a silver lining ! Her horse is safe and the stables can be replaced ............

I know - and cars do pass on the road even at night so someone will have seen them!! I f I would have been there I would have send big teddy romper and his sidekick big Alan(dog + cat) out to bark and scrag and called coppers and shouted and screamed as much as I could !!!

That is awful - poor lady - these people just think that they have stolen property, but they have stolen her dream and she will probably never feel truly safe there agin.

One saving grace is that they didn't steal or harm the horsey!

So glad the horse is ok and hope they crashed in to wall on their escape and got squashed by the stabling!

I would be paranoid about the horse if it was mine though. I've recently moved yards and a contributing factor was that we had a break in at the previous, 'unmanned at night' yard. I was worried as they obviously knew nobody was there at night, strolled in and stole loads of tack! Thankfully the horses were all still there.

that's awful

Just a small question - how the hell do you steal a block of stables? Not exactly something you can shove under your coat is it?

I know - I wondered that ?

They were the wooden ones so they would have been easy to dismantle but still?

Talking about it with my OH and he suggested - that it could have been the peeps that erected it and then nicked it no probs a few weeks later..... or highly unlikely - an insurance job?

That's horrid! Glad horsey was ok.

How did they manage to padlock the gate afterwards? Was it unlocked or did they have a key to begin with?

The things people steal!
