Well so far I have had a really up and down week. At the weekend I hacked my fabby ex-racer to our very first dressage comp. Getting there alone was a challenge in itself. When I first owned him just getting him to leave the yard alone was tricky. And if you'd said to to me 2 years ago that I would be able to hack him on his own down a 3 mile spooky bridlepath and then past a small holding and a quarry I'd have laughed. When there he behaved so well I was really proud of him but the biggest suprise was that we picked up our first ever ribbon!!! Second place on our first test....amazing!
Then yesterday as if to knock me back down to earth, he suddenly spooked at nothing I could see whilst we were cantering in the school and promptly dropped me on my butt! Ouch was the first thing that came to mind.
Then tonight I get a call from my YO to tell me that he looked a little unlevel when she brought him in and on closer inspection she found that he's managed to pull off a front shoe and what looks like half of his hoof along with it. I've been down to have a look and I can't find the shoe so I'll have to have a full set done on Friday when my farrier comes out. He was due in 10 days anyway so no point in just having 1 shoe at this stage.
Hopefully that's the last of the excitement for this week anyway. N.

Well done for being able to hack to the dressage and another well done for winning a rosette.

Sorry to hear you fell off, hope you're ok.

And as for the shoes - well that's 'osses!

Congratulations to you both , bummer about the shoe , paddy pulled his front the other week and took a good chunk of the side too , bloody 'osses where would we be without them eh?
