What and when to worm?

My friend has just bought a horse she needs worming but she doesn't know what/when she was last wormed where is the best place to start?

If she needs worming then do it asap as it will only cause her to loose weight if they are really bad/get worse. Id use something that will kill tapeworm (equest maybe?? i dont know the names of wormers my yo buys them all for us) Best bet is probably to ask in the shop, they always know what to use

Agree with Gucci_B. But I would be worming with equimax or pramoz or even equlavan duo x.

You need to ask someone qualified for advise about wormers, westgate labs or your vet are the best place to start. A worming programme for the year needs to be planned out to account for all the different types of worms. I would strongly advise speaking to your vets first because if the horse hasn't been wormed for a while precautions may need to be taken like not using the strongest type of wormers first. Wormers contain controlled active ingredients and are only allowed to be sold by people qualified to advise on their use for a reason.

Agree with those who have said to get vet's advice. If you don't know the worming history, it's best to get professional advice.
