Due to the fact i cant do anything with my neddy atm all his annoying little habits are really starting to bug me!! Dont get me wrong i love him to pieces and wouldnt change him for the world but right now he's being a pain in the butt!!!

he runs his teeth along the metal cover on his door when he thinks hes not getting enough attention.... Think fingers nails down a chalk board!!

he stands back from the door to get a good strong kick when its dinner time or you walk into the feed room!

he quite lippy for a 5yr old so grabs everything... This is usually highly amusing just not when im in a rush and he wont let my toggle go!!!

everytime i bend down to put or take off his boots he licks me! Hes a tad weird!!

everytime i swing a rug on him, he pulls it off before ive had time to do a single buckle up!

Hes damn cute but so damn annoying at the same time!

I guess these are all highlighted due to him being stuck on box rest and i really do love him.... Honest!! :D

So what annoying little habits do your little darlings have??

Nope mine perfect !! :D yours sounds great .. Mine too is full of character ..but that's why I love him .. Plus he is easy on the eye ;)

Mine mushes his bum up against the wall when he poo's so it squishes all over the wall and his bum. Vile.

He also scrapes his teeth off the hay rack when I'm getting the feeds ready. I'm going to find him toothless someday

Lambkins.... What a face! He is gorgeous!!!! :)

I do agree couldnt have a boring one!!! Unfortunatly mine is just plain bored of being stuck in!! Hes not nearly as annoying when hes in work!!!

Minimilton..... Hes not a grey is he?? :/ icky pony!! I also have vision of him wrecking his teeth!!!

He likes playing with zips and velcro attachments - lost count of how many times he has yanked the velcro strip on my riding boots apart.

He steals hats from small children - if they stand in front of him for long enough he leans down and snatches their hats off reducing them to giggling wrecks. He then shakes them in the air (the hats not the children) much to their amusement. At my last yard we had a little girl who would stand patiently outside his stable with her back to him waiting for him to pinch her hat :D

He chucks his feed bucket over his door when hes finished and he has rather good aim - a few people have been caught out by him as they pass his stable.

Amazingly no but then he is very accurate with his feet and will use them to inform you when he has had enough of something, like being clipped, and will just catch you across the top of your foot! He also kills rats like this!

It is really just the strange swaying while you are bending down to get the girth that makes you feel very strange!!!

Mine nods his head when he wants feeding or turning out. Very annoying, especially when he's had his dinner and is tucked up for the night with a big haynet... he sees another horse get their bucket and decides it's time he had a second helping! He won't stop until he's heard my car drive off. Verified by a friend!!

He scratches his bum on the door and then poops over the top. Thankfully he's tall enough to get it over, so no squishing lol. Which admittedly isn't so annoying. It's when it doesn't go over the door and then lands on top of the perfectly good hay (pulled out of net) which then goes to waste.

He will poop and immediately step back into it after I've picked his feet.

And he poops quite regularly in his auto-drinker. And watches smugly from across the stable whilst I have to clean the brown, soupy mess...

Funny how most of his annoying habits are dung related... filthy, vile horse!

Hmmm where do I start

Loves losing over reach boots
If he is fed with a bucket on the floor he will kick it into his bed
When I feed him in his corner manger his first mouthful will be so big because he scoops along the bottom the proceeds to drop it on the floor whilst looking at you
Does constantly hurting himself resulting in veterinary attention count?

where do i start..
26yro coloured cob -
1.if your galloping through fields he'll buck until your off
2.if you haven't ridden him before and he knows it then he'll play old man
3.poos in his water bucket
4.clean him and he rolls again
5.bites if you have polos...

the 7yro bay (yay!) welsh D
1.rears if she hasn't got her food quick enough
2.if you dont give her feed to her first then she'll go knick the coloureds..
3.runs away if she knows she's introuble
4.always the one who breaks the fencing..
5.had a grump if the wind and/or rain starts and she doesn't have a rug (Your in for it if that happens)
6.charges off in canter..

My mates mare runs her teeth along the top of the stable and the metal cover, she also sharpens them on the walls.

She licks the metal, she stands at a 45 degree angle in the corner of her stable and crosses her back legs right over. If you put a slice of hay on the floor she moves it over and tramples it into her bed, then looks at you funny cos she cant eat it. S**ts in her water bucket.

This is really wrong but my cob used to grab the top of my knickers when bending over to pick his front feet out!

If he is fed with a bucket on the floor he will kick it into his bed

You reminded me of one :D You posted while i was writing so i forgot it! The bay welshie also stands as far away as possible then tries to eat from the bucket spilling it everywhere

Put her face in the bucket then spins it around her face like a roundabout

once she's finished or has a small water bucket near her she kicks it aroun dspilling anything inside >.<

When worming, my mare will let me squirt it in her mouth and then hold it in her mouth for a good 15 minutes too afraid to swallow it. you have to keep an eye or she spits it straight out again! Last week when wormed she did the above, I gave her a mint to help and she opened her teeth just wide enough for a mint to fit through then refused to munch on that. 10 minutes later she spat the mint out as it was clearly burning her tongue and then proceeded to sulk with the wormer still in her mouth!
Until I give her dinner, she will push her nose right in and take the biggest mouthful possible before eventually swallowing to help with the taste!!

My mare eats the pellets when I am putting a new bag into her bed and havent had time to get the water on them - weird creature. When she finishes her dinner she picks the bucket up and waves it about before launching it across the stable, she does this multiple times causing lots of noise :-/ This is most embarrassing when your neighbour mutters to her horse "oh we will have to put in a noise complaint" in a half jokey/half serious manner!

oh - this one really bugs me especially on a dark night in the pouring rain - she ALWAYS stands at the furthest possible point in the field, even when the other mares are beside the gate, she is away over at the other side of the field and DOES NOT come to call. She only looks up and walks towards me when I am about 2 feet away from her...... so frustrating!!!

3. kicks out when picking out his n/s hind hoof
4. farts in your face constantly
5. suckles his field mates ear

Rising 2 Sec C... Trevor
1. Steals everything!
2. chews everything!
3. Bites your hood
4. sucks on your zips
5. tries to make you chase him around when poo picking etc
6. tips the barrow over.

8yr old shire x Pringle
1. poo's in inappropriate places
2. weaves when trotting on a certain section of lane
3. leans on your hands on occasion
4, eats hay at lightning speed

Clydesdale...Jock

1. favours a walk to gallop transition
2. gets over exciting before a hack and tries to go in circles when tied up.
3. has no regard for your brain when he flings his head around.
4. whinnies at every horse he see's when hacking, we live next to a riding school so lots of horses...

This thread is just so funny LOL!

This is what my chaps get up to, it's either funny or annoying depending on my mood:

NF X Welsh
Scratches up anything in his stable if he isn't getting all the attention, usually with his head under the bar across the doorway as soon as you go to him he stops with a 'butter wouldn't melt' expression

Cob
Could pinch the nickname 'Destroyer' from Hovis
Deliberately snags the neck of his rug on slide rail catches so that either the rug or the catch breaks - if they don't he stands there waiting to be rescued
Farts when I'm brushing his tail out (he did actually poo on my head once as well - yuky yuk yuk)
Chucks his food across the floor if we're not quick enough fixing his manger in place
Throws buckets when they're empty
Runs off with bits of wood when we're doing any DIY at the yard (usually the bit we want next)
When he used to come in at night he would make a kind of wee/poo/bedding mush in the middle of his bed and then sit in it

Shettie
Abs perfect apart from will always roll in the muckiest bit of field he can find after a bath or grooming session, also tries to bite the farrier's ear at hoof trimming time

Smooges his face in the thickest mud he can find.

Shouts his face off if he can hear but not see me.

Gallops after me in the field if I pretend to leave him.

Bites his best mate if he walks too near to me and herds me away from other horses. Awkward if I'm catching them both in!

Scrapes his hoof on the ground if he's bored of being tied on the yard.

Always has a mini tantrum at the beginning of being lunged, squeal, buck, head tossing, hilarious!

Scrapes his hoof along the ground when he is getting a feed because he can't eat as fast as he wants to but he counters it by looking very cute and funny trying to stuff so much in his face at one time he looks like an oversized hamster ha ha! :)

Waits till you are on route to or from the ground when mounting or dismounting before shoving his head down to eat grass and therefore unbalancing me - we're working on it ;)

Is the sweetest horse in the world but he is pretty mean to my mum's mare - she's the only horse I've ever seen him pull faces at/chase/bite - but he's really sweet to the little pony and will happily share his hay with her :)

He is almost 100% now! Nearly all of his annoying habits have gone.

However, something that really bugs me is when I'm leading him up the field and Cookie trots past, he'll throw a slight strop and refuse to move for a bit! It's only seconds, but it's so annoying!

But I don't even care really - look at that face!!

Jakes a grumpy sod, will nip when you do rugs up, lift leg up if you go near his bum when he's eating, paws the ground when eating his dinner, kicks the door for attention, etc haha

Pac is bargy and legs it when you're leading him sometimes

I'm sure theres more I can't think of atm lol!

She used to pull at my hair pinned up for work when crouching to do front straps on fly sheet. lol only annoying as often horse feed an slobber in hair was often pointed out at work but hey loved it really as from there she would snuffle my face :) miss that so much

My 5 year old ISH

- nibbles and threatens to bite when I fuss her but then comes after me for more fuss when I walk away
- walks under electric fencing (even when it's on) and if it's top an bottom taped she hops it
- always poos in the school - usually at the start of a session so it spatters everywhere
- rolls in the thickest mud she can find
- poos in her hay

But as a 5 year old she's the bravest least spooky horse I know and lover to bits.

My retired ID cross

- spooks with everything
- when ridden she would side shift her back end just before you mounted so you could easily tread air
- won't eat her anti inflammatories even though she's very foodie
- rips your arm off if she's the last to be let off her halter in a new field

But she's the softest girl and so gentle and I wouldn't change her for the world

In his stable I have a broomstick rug rail hanging on thick baler twine which my conne bashes about until it either falls down or he's pulled the rugs off. He's really grumpy about being rugged, stamps his feet and pulls evil faces at me. When I'm poo picking his stable he follows me and huffs in my face while I scuff about looking for scattered and hidden poo's.

a few horses at the yard

Big chestnut 16.2ish - grabs everything insight including little children :/ (And saddles)
Big Bay 16hhish - Scrapes teeth against metal on stable door
Adorable Chestnut about 16hh - 5yrs or so :P Sticks his tongue out so you can grab it then when you let go he has it just flopping there waiting for you to put it back in!

There are lots of others but not gonna list 'em all!
