Me too! Mine is about 15 years old. Its the Deauville and I had the new plastic/metal floor fitted last year and some new bateson stickers and wheel cover put on and it looks like new again! Its really light weight & lovely to tow. All the partitions and ramps are easy too. I would really recommend.
Yes there good and they have the ramp on the right side or should I say the left, i.e kerb side ramp unlike ifors which have the ramp opening to the road, which I think it stupid....
Love my bateson deauville. Minnie is a 15.2 welsh cob and a big girl she fits in it lovely and its so easy to tow. Nice and airey inside. I prefer them to Ifors
I bought an older Deauville earlier this year. Hector didn't like it first time I travelled him in it, turns out that idiot here hadn't noticed that the front right tyre was smaller than the other tyres and therefore the trailer was unbalanced! What fecking muppet I am eh!! This has now been rectified - infact it now has 3 new tyres, as 2 of them were buggered!! I'm slowly doing it up and it does need it! But once I am done, it should be a smart trailer. H has since travelled excellently in it and it has my foals seal of approval too - though she and her Mum have only been in and stood in it for a few minutes.
I bought the Ascot it's the top of the range, my horse wouldn't travel in an Ifor Williams apparently the Bateson's have a far better suspension. My boy is so much happier now I travel all over and he just loves it. It's light airy and a super box to tow.
I had alway's had Ifor's before but I am converted now, Happy Horse = Happy Owner.
I have noticed that the panels on the batesons are sealed with a type of colourseal, the same as on caravans, if your box has been power washed some of the sealent may have been disturbed, thus causeing leaks, maybe worth just cheecking!?
I think the Deauville model is the best seller & when you use one you can understand why. It's light & airy, tows very well, doesn't bounce & rattle like many other makes of trailer. It's fairly light weight & is tall enough to carry a couple of 17h horses. It's got a couple of saddle racks in the front & also a hitch up mirror fitted. I bought one after borrowing one from a friend, I think they're great & several friends have bought them after seeing mine.
They are a good investment as they hold their value. Also if you ever need advice or parts Bateson's customer service is second to none!
Can anyone tell me whether there is ample room for a 17hh horse in a bateson deauville. My horse is 17.1hh and I am looking to buy a trailer. I know he fits comfortably in an Ifor Williams 510 as he has been in my friend's. However, I am now thinking about a bateson after reading this! Would he fit in a bateson along with his 16hh girlfriend!?
