I am thinking of doing BE eventing with my horse soon. how much does it cost to join me and my horse?I realise there are entry fees for the individual events. I am in Devon and was also wondering how many events they do around here. I know Nutwell do one but where else?just checking theres enough events to make it worth while joining. Thanks

Thanks do you know if you do it on a ticket whether you can still get placed?I looked on the british eventing site but couldnt find out the costs its alittle complicated. Unless i was just being a bit dim lol

Yes, I've been placed on a ticket.

I haven't joined or done any for a couple of years, but it used to be about £60 to join the horse and £60 for the rider. Entries are around £80, plus a £10-15 start fee. Its not cheap. I think that they do cheaper "packages" for BE80 classes to encourage new and more novice entries.

The only downside with entering on a ticket is that if they ballot because there are too many entries, they knock out ticket entries first. Usually the first events of the season are the ones that end up balloting, or later ones if there have been a lot of things cancelled due to weather.

You'd probably get more accurate replies on the CR page.

You are still eligable for placings and prizes on a BE day ticket, unlike BS. The cost of a day ticket is £16 each for horse and rider, if you are doing BE80T then the cost is less (these are called 'training tickets' and cost £10 for horse and rider combined). The downsides of day tickets are you have no priority in a ballot and as a rider you can only do 4 events per season on a ticket (horses are unlimited).

If you go to the BE website and look under 'Membership' all the info you need is there (day ticket info, training ticket info etc). Or failing that, give them a call :)
