What are we all looking forward to about the Summer?

Sunshine ! Bridleways not being quagmires ! Perhaps a cheeky show ! And hopefully all the flood water will have gone down and people can start getting their lives back together.

First and foremost - sunshine (and all that comes with it - warmth, dryness, feeling of well-being, turning horses out naked, feeding less, etc.).

I'm also another one who loves seeing the swallows return - they always lift my spirits when they come back and I love seeing the little ones fledge. Incidentally, I saw some daffodils in bloom on my home from the yard yesterday and they made me smile. Spring really is coming - believe it or not.

Dry, harder ground to gallop across, warm weather for bathing ponies, longer days to go on all day hacks to places we've never been before and being able to keep them out 24/7 :D

It'd the swallows for me too! It will be the first summer at our new house with our own yard and I'm really hoping the swallows will return to my barn and stables. The sound of the leaves in the breeze between the tractors. Packing our picnic in a saddle bag and taking my boy for a long ride and lunch.

Riding to the pub for a nice beer with my boy.
Not worrying about how fast my supply of hay is going down.
Forgetting how awful this winter was.
Sitting in the field with my husband and a bottle of wine with the dogs and the horses.
Not having permanently muddy wet floors with 3 dogs and oak floor throughout.
Not having to use the woodburner and having the only window that opens OPEN! (it's actually a hatch once used to throw bags of grain out of into the cart) no glass even in it!
Having to actually break out the fly spray
Beautiful summer coats on the boys

Dry fields
Grass
Horses back out 24/7
Getting light and weather to ride
Being able to sit outside my house on a warm evening and see this

Some great ones here - keep them coming! I think this is relevant.....

“Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.”

― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

So keep on wishing and we will get there. :)

I'm worried what I might have to sacrifice to the rain gods to bring another summer like 2013!

Not having to fill haynets in the pissing down rain/wind in the dark with my car headlights pointing at the bale!

And actually being able to ride!

Looking forward to bringing on my youngster she will be 4 in June, she's had to have some time off due to a virus/cough so it will be like re-starting her. Hopefully being able to ride her out and start doing something will help relieve the empty feeling i have after saying goodbye to my old boy in January.

Having a lovely time with the horses, then sitting outside with friends in the yard having a laugh, and enjoying a glass of wine. Doesn't matter if the 'glass' is a mug, paper cup or plastic. And no need to dress up - no one cares if you are dusty or covered in horsey grass slobber!

Their are lots of things to love about Summer but the thing I love the most is taking a flask of coffee and a sandwich down with me, sitting on an upturned bucket in the field and just watching the horses graze happily whilst enjoying the sun on my back. Wonderful! :)
