The Vintage Tack Room - www.vintagetackroom.com - are specialists in hunting clothes, equipment and gifts.

We have a marvellous, ever-changing selection of vintage hunt coats, hacking jackets, breeches, Pateys, boots, whips, flasks, wire cutters, horns and hunt buttons. Very importantly for this time of year, we’ve plenty of children’s jackets in the ‘Tilly’s Tackroom’ section of the site. And if we don’t have what you are looking for, our bespoke search service can find it for you. We also supply new items made in the vintage tradition such as moleskin stocks.

You can find us on line at www.vintagetackroom.com or at our showroom in West Sussex. Or, if you want to get together a number of hunting friends, we can bring our shop to you, for a pre-hunting stock up.

Horse & Hound forum users can get a 10% discount at Vintage Tack Room by using the code HHF13 online, in person or over the phone.

We also buy in items, so if you have hung up your hunting boots, or changed your own girth size, contact us! Other services include repairs and alterations and hire of hunting clothes.

We hope you will visit us soon, and our question for you is:

What are you doing with your horse now that hunting is over? Turned away, showing, hacking….? Let us know below...

Hunters 1&2 are turned away, due to come back in mid/end of July to start walking for autumn hunting.

Hunters 3&4 are turned away, due back in mid/end August as they don't go autumn hunting but will be ready for Opening Meet

Hunter 5 has just had his shoes on and is walking with the half thought of some working hunter classes or some hunter trials.

Hunter 6 is waiting for his boat trip :-D:-D

He is doing a bit of everything - mostly hacking; lots of long and slow rides to keep his weight down, the odd bit of jumping and schooling and just having an easy time. :) (he is only a part time Hunter - hunting approx twice a month so I don't turn him away for the summer) We are also planning to go to a small show in a few weeks, and cross country schooling too. :)

21 yr old cob(he has a sharer) 2-3 hour hacks 3 times a week, odd sponsored ride and might do some showing. He never has a break as he's too creaky to get going again.

14yr old legend (in his own reflection lol )cob-Dex had 2 months off and is doing (and getting placed) 90cm eventer challenges/ODE and HT upto 95cm, qualified for National Hunter Trial championships in Oct in the pairs with OH horse

9yr old OH (secretary) horse is doing affiliated dressage,(trains with Lee Pearson) won his last eventers challenge and is doing 80cm ODE next weekend the he'll have a break until mid july.

8yr old (half brother of above) had a sucessful ligament op in Feb and is now shamefully fat despite starvation paddock and rehab so shoes back on later this week and hill/road work

5yr old TB x Cob went very bum high so instead of the eventing, he has sat in the field for 3 months. He has now levelled considerably so will also come back into work this week.

Older mare (16) had been having an enforced holiday having chipped a bone in her leg but have now got the go ahead to start walking and assuming that all goes well she will go autumn hunting.
6 year old is getting an education in whatever I can find to do with her as she was broken late so e are broadening her horizons with RC events and sponsored rides, she will hunter trial and go autumn hunting as well.
23 year old is enjoying a potter with my sharer and is looking better than he has the last 4 years! He won't hunt this season though.

I've got a 22 year old and I'm dreading the day he can't hunt anymore, he will try this season, but he has Cushings, although very well controlled with Pergolide, and is so jolly still!

Only got the 1 and she is an all rounder. Coming back into work from a bit of time off, getting her fit and well and planning on doing some xc practice/ rides in July/Aug, ready for autumn hunting if all goes well :)

I'm learning to ride side-saddle and hope to be competent enough in time for autumn hunting / opening meet!

both are old men officially (19 this time round) and are having an easy summer, partly intentionally and partly owing to my work/band/cycling commitments, and with any luck, and some work, they'll come back in ready and raring to go.

Ron isn't half grumpy when he's not hunting! he's totally uninterested in anything apart from food and sleep, and doesn't want to know me or the saddle!!
Tom however is bored silly, and has skinned his hock whilst attempting to entertain himself!
