I have recently brought a gorgeous 2 year old cob, he's still got lots of growing and filling out to do.

He's currently on 400g spillers original balancer and a handful of chaff with restricted grazing, he's out 24/7 at the moment.

But he's looking well on what he's on but I don't want him to get too fat but I want to make sure he gets everything he needs.

I'm used to a hard to keep weight on TB so having something that lives on fresh air is a shock to the system!

So what do you all feed your lovely cobbies? :)

I had a 4yo, he ate hay and grass, is in hard work (ridden 4 hrs a day, although not fast, built up over time!), and he has a 1/4 scoop of chop, handful of mix to jazz it up, and vits. Made a strapping healthy 7yo now.

I feed a handful of chaff with pony nuts. For my older cob who now does not live on thin air has some calm and condition as well.
some cobs need very little to keep going, Moses is full of energy on grass alone, Ffin needed a boost to give him energy, I would give an oil based supplement.
Over the winter I feed lots of hay and very little bucket feed.

My 4 year old is turned out 12 hours overnight, 1 small slice hay during the day. 1 mug D&H suregrow in a handful good doer chaff at teatime. he works around 4 times a week for 45 mins a time.

He is a bit fat but I can't muzzle him as he is very headshy and is turned out with another youngster. Am wary about working a 4 year old too much as don't want to put strain on his joints. Havve just about got the balance right I think as he has slimmed slightly.

My 4 year old is in light work and has: Out 24/7 restricted grazing (night without muzzle, day with.)
1/2 scoop allen and page cool and collected. (per feed)
1 scoop honeychop oat straw chaff (per feed)

A blob of fast fibre with pro balance plus supplement, micronised linseed and salt, restricted grazing and a handful of hay

14 year old - About 200gms of Fast Fibre, with Forage Plus Summer hoof health balancer added and 50gms of Mag Oxide (he's EMS). In winter he'll have an additional supplement of Linseed too but I drop this in summer as it's already present in the summer balancer and he doesn't need any extra!

Salt lick available in his stable if he chooses to help himself.

Out at night on 'nibble paddock' and comes in during the day to a 1.5kgs of soaked hay.

I feel like a terrible mum now. My 7yo is on nothing but grass right now and in work 5 days a week and he's still rather chunky. In winter he gets a scoop of chaff and 1/2 a scoop of nuts.

My welsh D is just on grass, turned out 24/7, ridden 3 or 4 times a week. In winter he gets hay, some fibre nuts in his snack ball with a bit of low cal chaff. I usually feed speedi beet in winter but he seemed to go off it last time and kept leaving it.

My two year old cob is having, in 24hrs. One scoop speedi beet, one scoop of grass nuts, one mug of sure grow and one mug of micronised linseed. All soaked together. Plus hay because she is on pen rest after a hernia operation. I would be cutting out hay and reducing short feed if she was on grass.

Nichts. Nada. Nothing.

That's for one 20-something cob in light hacking work, one 4 y/old native who does a little schooling/jumping relative to his age, and one 8 y/old native who is competing BD elementary and working his socks off pretty much every day.

I'm mean ;)

She gets a scoop of molassis free/low calorie chaff (top chop lite), recommended amount of blue chip lami lite (never had laminitis but got very fat and went a bit footy so is currently on massive diet and wanted to ensure she's getting everything, the lami lite fitted the bill best), joint supplement.
Currently stabled during the day on 2kg of soaked hay and out at night on very restricted grazing. 9 year old in light work minimum 5 days a week - hacking for up to 3 hours and short school sessions (coming back into work following injury)
