My TB is living out 24/7 at the moment and he's just getting grass, a mineral lick in the field and a scoop of fast fibre (dry weight) a day.

He's looking good but has dropped off a little, not much but I've started upping his work to get him fit for his first ODE, some days I ride him twice (e.g a school in the morn, hack in the afternoon).

I think the grass is not as potent now as it was a month ago.

I'll probably keep him on what he is for now and monitor.

What are you feeding yours? Particularly those who are living out and being worked :).

My nf is out 24.7
Im feeding him 10pounds of haylage a day 4 am and 6 pm plus 1/2 hifi &1/4 mix twice a day and im really happy how his looking at the moment.
I might have to cut haylage down soon if the rain keeps on :)

Mines on a low cal balancere (bailys) it's been fab! Mine usually looks a bit scraggy when he's out 24/7 as he's so busy eating the grass he won't touch a hard feed! But he only needs 2 cups a day and it just makes sure that he gets all his vit and min. I would definitely recommend you feed him some sort of supplement/balancer to make sure he's not deficient in any which can cause problems especially as you are eventing him :)

Equine grazing is often deficient in minerals etc so a balancer will make sure he's getting everything his body needs x

Mineral lick good doer out on grass 24/7 and looking OK he isnt pestering me and his head is down when I go to see him. He is on restricted and munching very short green grass.

we have had rain and sunshine so it looks nice green(more like spring grass).

Mine is being rotated in and out of Pony Jail, so gets mix of grass and hay. Also gets Top Spec Anti-Lam (vit/min supplement) + magnesium oxide, since the forage isn't great. He's STILL too fat!...but he's lost THREE girth holes, and only has three left to go! :)

Ours come in every day/night as grazing won't allow 24/7 turnout. Millie gets 2 scoops readymash, ½ scoop barley rings, a mug of linseed and 15g fenugreek seeds twice a day with 1½ large slices of haylage. Olly gets ½ scoop chaff and ¼ nuts a day with 30ml ProPell with ½ large slice of haylage in triple netted net.

Lacey is out 24/7 and worked everyday (roughly) at the moment.

She's fed her usual of 1 1/2 mugs of balancer and the tiniest handful of chaff to mix in her 25ml of oestress. She's looking rather "well" at the moment.

Mine is stabled at night, but she's on a handful of chaff, some moody mare herbs and that's it. She has adlib hay (always has some left in her net in the morning) and the grass is good.

She's a Sec D, her weight is perfect and doesn't need anything else.

Mine is in shire horse jail (approx 3/4 acre) of fairly poor grazing. He's currently having 1scoop healthy hooves, 1/2scoop hi fibre nuts in morning.

In evening he's having 1scoop healthy hooves, 1scoop hifi lite, 1/2scoop hi fibre cubes plus equivite and superflex.

He looks and feels fantastic!

I've got a 19 year old anglo arab and a yearling cob. they are out 24/7 but they spend about 19 hours of that on a poorer paddock and go out onto the better fields for the rest of the time.

They both get two feeds a day too- arab is on a dbl handful of graze one, sgl handful of barley, two small scoops of speedi beet, vit supp, soya oil and devils claw for his joints. Cob just gets sgl handful of dengis with a sprinkling of pegasus mix and a vit supp.

They both have a feed bucketful of haylage each in the morning and night. Both looking good!!!

I limit the grass as it sends the yearling nuts and turns him into a fence wrecker!!

My ISH is living out 24/7 and gets one feed a day (evening) which has a scoop of hifi, a scoop of d+h staypower cubes, skin and hoof supplement, sunflower oil and carrots. He is a good weight at the moment. Could be fitter though. We compete every other weekend mostly although on the run up to BRC areas we have competed for the last 2 weekends and my friend is jumping him a couple times a week cuz shes doing the sj on him at areas.

If you feel like he has enough energy when you ride/compete him and he's not dropping weight then dont worry about upping his feed. My gelding shares a field with about 6 others who keep the grass down so I didnt cut his feed much coming into summer.

Mine are all living out 24/7 and are are all fed Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer to make sure they are getting the correct amount of vitamins and minerals. :)

my cobs a very good doer out 24/7 with muzzle has:

equimins advance pellets 40g (very concentrated balancer, very good stuff)
Energest 16 300-500g (for the ooomph factor)
Biotin 20g (shes shoeless)

15.2 5 y/o cob out 24/7 being hacked out for about 2hrs about 4 times a week: 2 scoops hi-fi light chaff, handful of pony nuts, and his steroids (he has some unknown breathing problem and steroids is one of the various hings we are trying- seems to be working aswell! )and he is doing very well!

14.1 9 y/o cob, field ornament, out 27/7 and if he's lucky an hour or so of work a week and little bursts of lunging, 1 scoop of hi-fi chaff and about 10 pony nuts (only has feed or he would chase the other horse-above off!!) and very fat atm!

14.1 13 y/o nf out 24/7, doing about 4 x 1 hour week and 1 or 2 2hour rides, nothing- and doing very well on it! (in a large field that's shared between lots of horses and has not much grass!!!) :)

My mare is now the perfect weight, had her weighed with the weighbridge a couple of months ago.

She's a very good doer and she gets 1 scoop of Happy Hoof morning and night and 22lbs of soaked hay. I exercise her every day and she is turned out with a muzzle on for 5 hours every day.

I feel like we're feeding our horses far too much, but I will say the grass has barely grown at all (the weeds are doing annoyingly well though ). Everywhere else around us has amazing grass growth after the rain we've had in the Cambs area recently, but we're sure our field is clay-based, cause the grass just won#t grow (granted field owner has done little to no field maintenance and hasn't bothered putting grass seed down:rolleyes:)

I have a Cob type and mum has a TB, both get 24/7 turnout at the moment, but we're still bringing them in the stable morning and night for their breakfast and dinner.
Mine gets a half scoop of good-doer's chaff, in which I mix his garlic (supposedly helps keeps the flies from biting too much), his seaweed, his Biotin, his apple cider vinegar and (in the mornings) his 20ml of FlaxOil. Mum's TB gets the same but with Alfa A Lite feed.
They also get a haynet to munch on while we're poo-picking out the field and grooming them over.

They sound so spoiler, but neither one of them has gained any weight. My Cob-type is getting a better body shape then he had before because he's been getting lots of excercise since coming to me

My recovering laminitic is on 10kg hay daily split into 2 nets.he also has a handful of unmolassed chaff with Formula4feet...just got the go ahead to allow him out on restricted grazing, have ordered a new grazing muzzle so he'll start going out when that is delivered and his hay cut down accordingly.

My two year old sec D comes in in the evening for his ration of topSpec balancer, then back out he goes.

My 20 year old is out 24/7 all year round. He's fed on half a scoop of Spillers Conditioning Fibre and some Spillers Senior Balancer. His feed stays the same throughout the year, just the quantity of fibre increases during the winter. He's ridden 3/4 times a week, just gentle hacking and a little schooling and he's on quite short grazing. He's looking great at the mo, just needs a damn good bath!!!

Mine get soaked oats, sugarbeet and cider vinegar in a bucket twice a day (say 3kg in total). Straw and baled oats as forage. Mineral block in the paddock and that's it. I have just upped Ari's rations as he is looking a bit underweight - probably put him back on corn oil in his hard feed too. No grass here - ever!

my ISH good doer is out 24/7 and gets about 1/4 of a scoop of alfa a and half a cup of allen and page competition mix, as he is a bit of a fatty, but im not worried about it, cuz its mostly bloat....for a few days before we go anywhere to compete, i slowly up his competition mix and he comes in at night just go give him that extra buzz to keep him going.

My TB gets 3/4 scoop alfa a and 3/4 scoop of horse and pony mix. he is doing really well, and tends to drop his weight so i have to keep an eye on him!

Fat Pony: Handful of high fibre nuts, handful coolmix, two handfuls Chaff. not enough to fill one scoop but more of a token feed. 8am-and 8/9pm.

Pink: Half scoop mix, cubes and scoop chaff. about 8am and 8/9 pm

Himalayan salt lick in paddock and will be getting some hay when the grass gets rubbishy (which will be soon!)
