Gave my girl a blanket clip yesterday and just wondered what rugs your's had on, she is quite a warm horse but doesn't like rain. It has been quite mild round here but drops could at night. Yesterday I turned her out in a full neck lightweight rug with a thick fleece underneath, she came in nice and toasty, overnight she had the same fleece on with a lightweight stable rug. Usually full clip mine but decided to see if I can get away with blanket.

I have blanket clipped my lad this year for the first time and he is still out 24/7,He only has a m/w rug without the neck.I was worried about his neck being cold the other night so i dragged the h/w with full neck down to the field and he dident need it.He was so toasty warm,if i had upped his rugs he would of started to sweat.

You have unrugged blanket clips, are they not freezing!!!

A blanket clip- A clip suitable only for horses which are stabled and involved in an active degree of medium to hard work and or competition work. The coat is all but removed except for a "blanket" area over the hind quarters and saddle area. As a guide the clip line is normally judged to be the level of the bottom of the saddle flaps but this can vary. Heads are normally clipped out, but you can opt for half the face or even leave the entire head complete. Whatever you elect to do, you should take into account conditions as previously mentioned in the "Medium trace clip" If you turn out during the day a neck cover might be appreciated by your horse, - this is an area which suffers a fair amount of heat loss. As always a keen eye on condition, a warm stable with plenty of rugs and blankets to combat bad weather periods is essential.

Our have M/W full neck stable and turnout rugs, and the bigger 2 dont have neck on their stable rugs.

Mine was in a med weight combo after he was done a month ago but started to get way too hot. He's grown some hair back now and is in a lightweight standard at the moment, he's always warm enough. Once I redo him (he needs doing!) he'll go back in the med combo. I have a heavyweight but saving it for when it gets very bad. Mine is out 24/7 and I live in N Scotland.

My full clipped (bar legs and head) is in a thin boett and a MW MT rug with neck cover

If he was blanket clipped, I'd have him in a 100 to 150g rug (depending on fat or thin)

Once it starts getting cold I'll up his rugs (he is out in the day and in at night and I don't change rugs)

I've just full clipped my tb today and he is now out in a 300g combo. I fear he may get too hot but as he has so helpfully put new "air vents" in his other rug he will just have to stay hot

Still out 24/7
200g/mw overnight and usually a lightweight through the day, although yesterday he was nekked as it was so nice!
