Horse-related of course!

Since I'm at uni, my plans are mainly for the summer. I'm going to Minnesota to visit friends in August and we're going on a week-long western horse ride - tents and singing and guitars round a campfire-style! :D I can't wait!
Think this will be a quiet year competing & event-wise, so apart from the odd hunt and fun ride I don't think we'll be competing much if at all. :( We managed to scrimp and save enough to take the horses to Skegness last summer, which was incredible, but I don't think any of 'the gang' can afford it this year.

So what are your aims, hopes and plans for 2012? :)

Early this year ... To jump at Royal Windsor horse show. Long term for this year successfully be jumping 1.30's *runs off and gets to work!* :)

*To improve my flatwork/ schooling

*To start looking for a part loan, possibly full loan, come April/May (very excited!!!)

*To jump "The Plane" next year.....

To be jumping Bs Club shows from mid summer onwards, and hopefully to start full affilliated next year. I'm also planning to do some Unaff derbys in the summer, Dressage and sponsored rides. I can't afford a lorry often but have managed to club together recently and have a great group of people who are of a similar level whom I can now go with, so I am going to make the most of it :) x

Move Jem up to BE Novice. Get Harry sane, and fingers crossed BE90 and 100 before the end of the season (and hopefully I will live to tell the tale)! Get Celeste (rising 2yo) out to a few inhand shows. And for Millie to have a healthy foal in May and take Millie and foal to the Futurity in August. I've a feeling i'm going to be kept busy!!!

To qualify Markie for at least one, decent mainland show. Just missed a place at Equifest last year. Probably won't even go to whatever we may qualify for (cost!) but would just like to be able to boast about it!
Personally, I would like to jump at least one, small jump! I lost my nerve big time over 20 years ago, but I jumped one 2 foot fence last year, first one since 1989! No reason for the loss of nerve, one minute I was happily doing Newcomers, the next couldn't even trot over a pole! Markie is push button up to 2'9", so I should survive!

Start off our young QH with some basic schooling... Prep for breaking whenever he's ready for it...

Get my son and the [slowly :)] maturing TB working together a bit more...

That's the easy stuff... The real head work will be in trying to reassemble some of my confidence *in* the saddle... Having a lesson on Sunday - snow permitting... Eeeek... :o

I have my new youngster to bring on and back, been about 15years since I last backed a horse  so that is my year ahead with Nell really

I am doing this too and am quite excited about it as never really done it before!! Got mine as a 15mth old in July 2010 so shall be getting on him this year and hope to be hacking out at the end of the year! :D

We'll have to compare notes!

Hi,

I have my first pony and i'm looking to get him fit, get him a little less nervous around water (doesn't like getting his hooves wet) with a view to taking him to the beach in the summer. And also, looking forward to watching our equestrian team getting a pile of golds in London 2012 :)

To get the old boy (nearly 20) back into work, so we can enoy our hacking together again. Probably do a local pleasure ride on him at the end of May, it's very close to home, and on our normal hacking routes, but he'll get just the right amount of wound up by all the extra horses, and even going around on our own will be lots of fun!

To get the youngster out and about with a bit of education. He'll be three in July, and ideally this year I'd get him leading out in hand and occasionally from another horse, bitted, saddled, and to a couple of shows. It'd be good to sit on him and do say ten minutes of riding a few times too - we don't have a school, so backing is done during hacking.

As for the new boy, well, he's only nine months old. Castration is the first thing on the list for him! Then just getting him chilled with us, and handled, grooming, already leads - only had him five days, so a bit soon to say really. Would be nice to show him a couple of times for the experience, but if that doesn't happen until next summer, so be it.

Well I've just had one part loan arrangement collapse on me, but luckily was almost immediately offered another with my friend's gorgeous (if diminutive) Sec C gelding (I'm smitten)

So plan is to really bond with him and make the most of the 3 days a week I treat him as my own. I'd like to get out and do some unaff SJ, and then a few WHs and XC over the summer, maybe even show him in a couple of M&M classes because he is stunning. I'd also like to hunt him if my nerves permit!

He's a really talented boy that does some lovely flatwork and will basically jump pretty much anything you point him at, despite only being 13.3, so I feel really lucky to have him and I'm very excited about our year together! Got a lesson with a brand new instructor on Weds as long as the snow holds off, so hopefully the improvement will start there :-)

> Get back into jumping and hopefully do some shows!

> Do some more dressage shows :)

> And last one so far, not horsey i know, but i'm getting a puppy 25/2/12 so will be working with him as well as ponio :D

To gain more competition rides for owners;
Get my discovery double clears on my youngster
Get my mare back on top form and compete her at an impressive height again

To learn lots :D

to complete a season of the local show with the loan pony and hopefully get a trophy at the end of season dance (fingers crossed!!) and get some urgently needed dressage lessons with the YM

Get to the Trec champs with Tia, as she is 17 and arthritis is setting in, and although we manage it very well (no bute) aiming for this summer to be her last 'competitive' one, and to go out in style....whilst bringing on Toby to take over the role for next year... :D

To keep the horses between me and the ground mostly!!!

Plan was for Lilly to be out eventing properly but due to a injury now that might not be that realistic. If not will just do some BD and hopefully be handy at elementary level and do some BS.

Reback my rising 4yo homebred and get her going and take my rising 2 year old to some inhand parties (if we can sort the truck drama, she gets in but wont get out lol)

To keep improving our flatwork.
To raise our jumping height and stay clear (well as clear as we can!)
To get into the 60's for dressage (our best score so far is 60% but it was during a mini monsoon so I think the judge took pity on us:D)
and the big one.....to enter our first BE80 and hopefully the other three near me this season

To get my 'now not so new' horse back to BS - we were jumping BNov and Disc but saddle problems, an injury (his) and car accident (mine) mean we've not left the ground for a long long time.

If everything does work out well I'd love to try and get the 2 more clears I need to qualify for Bnov 2nd round but I won't push it if the timing doesn't work for him/me.

Jump double clear in Disc/1m (had the last pole down in j/o 3 times last year) and potentially try a 1.05 towards the end of the summer - again depends on keeping us both happy and comfortable back into full work.

For my mum's pony aim is to get him working again hacking out and a bit of schooling and try and take him for a play at some local RC SJ so we can try out for RC teams next year.

Also need to work out what to do for the best with the TB but that's a whole other story!

me:
Get a 2:1 or 1st in my 2nd year at uni

Dancer:
Qualify for the regionals on Dancer in prelim and novice.
Have a go at our first elem
Qualify for sheepgate U25s in prelim and novice.

Rowan:
Get good scores in Prelim and novice
Maybe qualify for the areas if I can afford to join BD with him.

Lola:
Get her going well under saddle.
Hopefully sell her!

Got my mare at the end of October. My aim is to get out to some riding club shows (to do working hunter and jumping) by the middle of summer. Been a long time since I've done any of that! Got to find money for all my show gear first!

Last year we did first ever ridden show class and came third, but because of my leg I was not brave enough to do it on my own, I had my friend beside me, this year I would love to be able to go back and this time try it on my own, also to carry on with lessons and be able to do some more canter work :)
