I started working on my OH in the summer. He always liek to suggest we go and stay with his mum in Ireland at xmas. And not that I don't like going but you have to deal with the following:
1) Travel disruption due to unpredictable weather - means you could in fact spend xmas day in the airport !
2) I have to find someone to look after my horse and if it snows they may not be able to get to yard - what would I do if I where in Ireland ???
3) Poor Dan the dog would have to spend xmas in a cold kennel :-(
So I think the trick is as soon as they even mention it, try and nip it in the bud ASAP !
I will spend xmas morning walking my dog on the beach followed by a xmas day hack on neddy then eat xmas dinner and pass out on the sofa watching crap TV ..............Bliss xx
Usually get 12 days off over xmas so thats great!! Horse is at home so will be doing him first thing as usual, walk dogs, tidy house, bring horse in then watch some terrible tv!! I just try and have a good rest as winter time is our busy period at work and of course everything is harder in winter, ie doing horse and dog walking in the dark.
Plans? I think you mistake me for somebody with a life!
I get Christmas - NY off, so plenty of time to devote to walking the dog in the snow, a few Christmassy hacks, general playing in the snow with the ponies and indulging in some good old fashioned Christmas tv and reading. I have a thing about the old BBC dramatisation of the box of delights - it just makes Christmas for me Very little family, no OH, so just me and my mother to entertain and bicker and all that
Oh and the obligatory one night of socialness with my friends at a nice restaurant too.
