Mine is SO stroppy and has major tantrums when he doesn't want to do something eg load, farrier and today the dentist (me and dentist both got struck) 
I partly blame his previous owner who did the bare minimum to keep him alive eg large field in winter with Jo grass or hay, medium rug, never seen a vet so doubt had seen a dentist.
I am at a loss to his naughtiness lately,
