what are your thoughts on a bates caprilli saddle with changeable gullit

I bought a second hand VSD for £400 mint condition, and sold it a year later for £400. Not impressed with the seat, same as the wintec (same gullet) I felt it sat on top of my horse and I felt perched.

Personally I love my dressage, actually replaced a keiffer for it, holds your legs in a much better and balanced position, I do however love the ideal jessica's but couldn't meet the budget of one of these fitted. I am very happy with the caprilli as a substitute though, with regards to trees, the same way you'd tell if any tree on a second hand saddle was sound?

I absolutely love mine! I find it extremely comfortable and it fits my tb very well. I have had the fit checked twice by a saddler that came out with saddles to try and both times they left without having to sell me a new one! I bought it 2nd hand off ebay for £350 and although not quite as new it had been looked after. 2 of my friends that have ridden my boy have both commented on how comfy my saddle is I would guess that if I was to try to sell it on I'd prob get my money back.

I LOVE mine! It is so comfortable and easy to sit into. Also it fits my new horse perfectly after only a small adjustment and so was a good buy. I looks smart as well.

I bought a brand new bates close contact jumping saddle with the flair system and changable gullet for my TB mare. I LOVE it!!! It fitted her lovely and as she muscled up i was able to get gullet changed which is alot better than buying new saddle specially a she went from a MED to MED/WIDE then finally to WIDE.

I old her a when bought my current horse as a foal and now as a 2yrs 7 months the same saddle has been fitted to him (To wear not to be ridden in yet)

I have the next generation elevation+ and I'm in love! I did try the caprilli ones but didn't like the seat as much, and it didn't fit my leg (as they are rather long! )

In general (so not always, just usually), Bates/Wintec saddles fit TBs and TB types best. They don't fit all TBs though.

I had one a few years ago. It was an event/jumping saddle. Bought it brand new. I sold it after a year because it didnt fit my new horse. My friend who bought it off me said when it was about two years old a strange bump appeared at the front just slightly behind the pommel. Wasnt impressed! I prob wouldnt buy one again as i feel they're not the best quality.

My RI loved mine, and I hated it! It fitted my mare fine, but I felt perched and really didn't like riding in it.
